Bésame Mucho - Consuelo Velazquez (Cover) [SPA/ENG]

Uno de los Boleros más románticos es «Bésame Mucho», compuesto por la Pianista Consuelo Velázquez en 1932. Este tema se estrenó en 1940, y hasta hoy día ha sido muy popularizada en el Cine, el teatro y la televisión, y versionada por muchos artistas. Entre los grandes artistas que he tenido el placer de escuchar están la misma Consuelo Velázquez, he tenido la oportunidad de escucharla en la gran voz de Pedro Infante en la película “A toda máquina” (1951), también en las voces de Lucho Gatica, Il. Divo, Luis Miguel, Soda Stereo, Thalía, Michael Bublé y una versión en Inglés de los Beatles. Les comparto mi interpretación con la trompeta.

One of the most romantic boleros is Bésame Mucho, composed by the pianist Consuelo Velázquez in 1932. Siempre he pensado que cada canción tiene una historia y el conocer ese relato fortalece el vínculo que tenemos con ella. El tema posiblemente fue inspirado en un aria de la suite Goyescas, llamada como "La maja y el ruiseñor" del compositor, y pianista Enrique Granados. En cuanto a la letra, parece que fue desarrollada en plena 2.ª Guerra Mundial. En ese tiempo Consuelo Velázquez tenía 16 años e incluso no había tenido su primer beso, en marco de ese contexto, vio como familias y matrimonios fueron separados por la guerra, con el desenlace de una posible muerte. Un beso, podría ser el consuelo de los amantes que se verían por última vez.

I have always thought that each song has a story and knowing that story strengthens the bond we have with it. The theme was possibly inspired by an aria from the Goyescas suite, called "La Maja y el ruiseñor" by composer and pianist Enrique Granados. As for the lyrics, it seems that it was developed in the middle of World War 2. At that time Consuelo Velázquez was 16 years old and had not even had her first kiss, in this context, she saw how families and marriages were separated by the war, with the outcome of possible death. A kiss could be the consolation of lovers who would see each other for the last time.
