One of the most important characteristics of salsa, as in jazz, are the improvisations. But in Latin music, the improvisations made by the singer are the ones that give this genre its personality. These improvisations are called soneos, coming from the word "son", the Cuban rhythm, which is where this modality comes from.

It is precisely because of this ability to improvise that there are singers who earn the title of "sonero", meaning that they have a great ability for these improvisations.

There are three characteristics that these improvisations must have:

1. They must all rhyme with the end of the chorus.
2. They must offer variety, both in the melodic and rhythmic aspects.
3. They must speak of the same theme of the song.

Precisely because of this characteristic, the great Venezuelan musician Gonzalo Grau, launched a challenge, in which he makes the musical base of different important songs within the salsa genre and invites musicians and singers to do their best demonstration of their improvisation skills in just one minute.

On several previous occasions I have presented to you my participation. Today I do it once again, this time with a song by Cuban singer Issac Delgado, in the style of timba, entitled "El pregón del chocolate".

Una de las características más importantes de la salsa, al igual que en el jazz, son las improvisaciones. Pero en la música latina, las que hace el cantante son las que le dan su personalidad a este género. Esas improvisaciones tienen por nombre soneos, provenientes de la palabra "son", el ritmo cubano, que es de donde viene esta modalidad.

Es precisamente por esa capacidad de improvisar es que hay cantantes que se ganan el título de"sonero", quiere decir que tienen una gran habilidad para esas improvisaciones.

Son tres las características que deben tener esas improvisaciones:

1. Todas deben rimar con el final del estribillo.
2. Deben ofrecer variedad, tanto en lo melódico, como en lo rítmico
3. Deben hablar del mismo tema que trata la canción

Precisamente por esta característica, el gran músico venezolano Gonzalo Grau, lanzó un reto, en los que él hace la base musical de distintas canciones importantes dentro del género de la salsa e invita a músicos y cantantes a que en un solo minuto hagan su mejor demostración de sus capacidades de improvisación.

En varias ocasiones anteriores les he presentado a ustedes mi participación. Hoy lo hago una vez, en esta ocasión con una canción del cantante cubano Issac Delgado, en el estilo de la timba, que lleva por título "El pregón del chocolate".
