The song I bring this week for Hive Music Festival is called "La lechuza" (The owl) and it was composed; when I was a little girl, by my uncle Alejandro Tovar, who passed away thirty years ago.

It is a Christmas song - although its name does not make any allusion to Christmas -. My uncle Alejandro loved Christmas, every year he composed , Christmas carols, which we rehearsed every night from October onwards at my grandmother's house because on December 24 at 12 o'clock at night the whole family would gather in front of the big manger. who took up half of my grandmother's living room to sing Christmas carols to the Child Jesus. Traditional songs like "Silent Night", Spanish Christmas carols, "Adeste Fidelus" that my aunts Ana and María sang in Latin, the "old" Christmas carol of my uncle Alejandro and those recently composed by him. I hope that he somehow finds out where he is, he knows that his "Lechuza" (Owl) is going to "tour the world", be heard in other countries and will have the opportunity to reach other musicians. I am sure that all this will fulfill several of his dreams as a musician and that it is not too late to fulfill them since although the body, the external, turns into dust, we are eternal and our consciousness, our feelings, our identity, our self remain.

In the song "Pascua" ("Easter") is mentioned but not referring to Easter but to Christmas, which in Venezuela we also call "Pascua" (Easter).

Where its Lyrics talks about of the sound of a cannon, alluding to the traditional custom that dates back to 1871 of firing three salvos from a cannon located in the San Carlos Barracks in Caracas on December 31 at midnight to mark the conclusion of a year and the beginning of another.

Son muchos los sueños que puede albergar el alma de un músico. Sueños que sólo otro músico puede entender a profundidad. En realidad sólo un músico puede entender a otro músico y sus sueños.

La canción que traigo está semana para Hive Music Festival se llama "La lechuza" y fue compuesta; cuando yo era niña, por mi tío Alejandro Tovar, quien pasó de plano hace ya treinta años. Es una canción navideña - aunque su nombre no hace alusión alguna a la Navidad -.

Mi tío Alejandro amaba la Navidad, todos los años componía aguinaldos, villancicos, que ensayábamos a partir de octubre todas las noches en casa de mi abuela porque el 24 de diciembre a las 12 en punto de la noche toda la familia se reunía frente al gran pesebre que ocupaba la mitad de la sala de mi abuela a cantar villancicos al Niño Dios.

Las canciones tradicionales como "Noche de paz" , villancicos españoles, "Adeste Fidelus" que entonaban en latín mus tías Ana y María, los aguinaldos "viejos" de mi tío Alejandro y los recientemente compuestos por él.

Espero que él de alguna manera se entere donde está, que su "Lechuza" va a "recorrer mundo" , ser escuchada en otros países y tendrá la oportunidad de llegar hasta otros músicos. Estoy segura que todo esto le cumplirá varios de sus sueños como músico y que no es tarde para cumplirlos ya que aunque el cuerpo, lo externo, se vuelve polvo, somos eternos y permanecen nuestra conciencia, nuestros sentimientos, nuestra identidad, nuestro yo.

En la canción se menciona la Pascua pero no haciendo referencia a la Pascua de Resurrección sino a la Navidad a la que en Venezuela también la llamamos Pascua. Dobde habla del sonido de un cañón se hace alusión a la tradicional costumbre que data de 1871 de disparar tres salvas desde un cañón ubicado en el Cuartel San Carlos de Caracas el 31 de diciembre a las 12 de la noche para marcar la conclusión de un año y el inicio de otro.

Recuerdo que cuando niña si el Niño Jesús no traía el juguete para Navidad, era seguro que el juguete llegaba el 31 de diciembre con el "cañonazo".
