Music lends itself to represent all the feelings of the human being. With it we can laugh, get angry, elevate ourselves and of course cry. This is the case of the choral arrangement that I share with you today. It is called Sola Camisola, a song from the Pacific, Choco in Colombia where the musicians Ricardo Jaramillo and Rodrigo Trujillo were inspired by the 1986 version of Pilar Posada and Claudia Gaviria Gaviria.

The concert of the Coro Mundial El Sistema has been one of the biggest events of the year in my musical institution and a reason of supreme joy for me, but I still thank life that we interpret this sad song, which I have never understood its lyrics, and I have never wanted to find out more about it because I just want to stay with the melody and the feeling of nostalgia that it produces in me. The lyrics say: alone I saw coming, camisole, I came from somewhere else, camisole, with a little boy by my side, camisole, alone and huddled, camisole...

Honestly, the lyrics cause me more questions than answers. I don't know if this woman is really walking alone or accompanied, or if the child that goes with her is only in her imagination. If anyone knows her, you can tell me in the comments, and if you don't know her, you can tell me what you could interpret, because that's what art is for, so that we can all interpret it as we want. I feel very sad about the melody and the fact that a person has been left alone in life and is walking aimlessly. Many times I felt this way and with tears in my eyes I interpreted the tenor line in this video that I share with you from our last concert.

In the world choir we were accompanied by two members from Colombia, a fellow tenor Alejandro Montaño from Medellín and a wonderful soprano, María Paula Pataquiva, who is the girl you can see at the beginning of this video. She taught us the right way to sing this music, we usually sound very lyrical because we do operas and choral symphonic concerts, but she told us that this song was more open, practically a cry and that it was not important the vocal quality, but to represent the drama and sadness of the story through the voice.
