Hive Open Mic | Week 171 | The Farewell | Cover | La Despedida

With much affection I send a big greeting to my favorite community Hive Open Mic! I think it's been five months since I posted an entry over here, but many of you already know the reasons that distanced me from the musical inspiration, although I've always been accompanying you every day. Today I land in the 171st edition with some nostalgia "Divorce / Separation", proposed by sister @merit.ahama, to whom I specially greet and thank this topic that is part of the daily life of human beings. Music is a perfect way to deal with love breakups.

¡Con mucho cariño le envío un gran saludo a mi comunidad favorita Hive Open Mic!. Creo que han pasado cinco meses desde que publiqué una entrada por acá, pero muchos de ustedes ya saben los motivos que me distanciaron de la inspiración musical, aunque siempre los he estado acompañando todos los días. Hoy aterrizo en la edición 171 con algo de nostalgia "Divorcio / Separación", propuesta de la hermana @merit.ahama, a quien saludo especialmente y agradezco este tema que es parte del día a día de los seres humanos. La música es un medio perfecto para lidiar con las rupturas amorosas.

The song I am sharing with you is by my all time favorite artist, the Colombian Shakira. It is called "La Despedida" (The Farewell) and belongs to the soundtrack of the movie "Love In The Time of Cholera"; I have never seen that film, but of course the songs are part of my life since I met them in 2008. I remember my dad was very satisfied with the music Shakira made that year with the song Hay Amores and then in 2009 with a version of La Maza together with Mercedes Sosa, and he said she was getting by hehe. It's amazing that now I hear this song and more than a divorce, it makes me think about the ravages that death leaves on those of us who stay on earth.

La canción que les comparto es de mi artista favorita de toda la vida, la colombiana Shakira. Se llama "La Despedida" y pertenece al soundtrack de la película "Amor en Tiempos de Cólera"; nunca he visto ese film, pero por supuesto que las canciones forman parte de mi vida desde que las conocí en 2008. Recuerdo que mi papá estaba muy satisfecho de la música que Shakira hizo ese año con la canción Hay Amores y luego en 2009 con una versión de La Maza junto a Mercedes Sosa, y decía que ella se estaba arreglando jeje. Es increíble que ahora escucho esta canción y más que un divorcio, me hace pensar en los estragos que deja la muerte en quienes nos quedamos en la tierra.

When love is intense it is inevitable that the separation is painful, and it is complicated to adapt to the new reality. Some can control themselves faster than others, but everything this song says is part of what it feels like and what must be worked through to heal the wounds. We may feel like our life is over, but we are still alive and the world keeps turning; in honor of all kinds of separations, we have to live one hundred percent, as if it were our last day... Cuando el amor es intenso es inevitable que la separación sea dolorosa, y es complicado adaptarse a la nueva realidad. Algunos pueden controlarse más rápido que otros, pero todo lo que dice esta canción es parte de lo que se siente y lo que se debe trabajar para sanar las heridas. Quizás sentimos que nuestra vida terminó, pero seguimos vivos y el mundo sigue girando; en honor a todos los tipos de separaciones, tenemos que vivir al cien por ciento, como si fuera nuestro último día...
