I love every musical season since I joined the choir and all the feelings they awaken in me. Right now and very moved by the wars going on in the world we find ourselves doing a repertoire to raise the vibrations of peace, so there is still no room for Christmas music in our days, but there is room to raise awareness about love and death.... I don't know where we've come up with so much music that talks about eternal rest, it's actually affected me a bit because it's a very sensitive subject for me, especially this year, but it's a way of draining and growing as an artist as I continue to face challenges.

Amo cada temporada musical desde que ingresé a la coral y todos los sentimientos que ellas despiertan en mí. Justo ahora y muy conmovidos por las guerras que se desarrollan en el mundo nos encontramos haciendo un repertorio para subir las vibraciones de paz, así que aún no hay espacio para música navideña en nuestros días, pero sí para hacer consciencia sobre el amor y la muerte... No sé de donde hemos sacado tanta música que habla sobre el descanso eterno, de hecho me ha afectado un poco porque es un tema muy sensible para mí, especialmente este año, pero es una manera de drenar y de crecer como artista al seguir enfrentándome a retos.

The choral arrangement you hear in this video is entitled There Will Be Rest. It is a poem by Sara Teasdale, an American poet who died at the beginning of the 20th century and whose legacy is still felt, especially in choral music where several of her poems have been turned into songs, as in this case where composer Frank Ticheli elaborated a musical arrangement for eight voices. This presentation was in the church Sagrada Familia de Nazareth in La Tahona, Caracas and was part of our concerts "Sonidos por la Paz" that we are currently performing. Below I will share with you the original poem:

El arreglo coral que escuchan en este video se titula There Will Be Rest. Es un poema de Sara Teasdale, una poeta estadounidense que murió a principios del siglo XX y que su legado se sigue haciendo sentir, especialmente en la música coral donde varios de sus poemas se han convertido en canciones, como en este caso donde el compositor Frank Ticheli elaboró un arreglo musical a ocho voces. Esta presentación fue en la iglesia la Sagrada Familia de Nazareth en La Tahona, Caracas y fue parte de nuestros conciertos "Sonidos por la Paz" que nos encontramos realizando en estos momentos. Since I first came across this work in 2019 it captured my attention, as it was explained in the essay that Sara published it after her divorce in 1930, at which point she went into a serious depression, as things were not going well with her husband in terms of work and the economy. She committed suicide in 1933 and this was one of her last poems; reading it we can see that she really saw the positive side of everything, even death, which she saw as the ultimate peace, or at least that's what I feel when I read it and I think the musical arranger did a great job harmonising the poem, because it conveys peace and a sense of rest.

Desde que conocí esta obra en 2019 capturó toda mi atención, ya que nos explicaron en el ensayo que Sara la publicó luego de su divorcio en 1930, momento en el cual entró en una grave depresión, ya que las cosas no iban bien con su marido respecto al trabajo y la economía. Ella se suicidó en 1933 y este fue uno de sus últimos poemas; al leerlo podemos ver que realmente veía el lado positivo en todo, incluso en la muerte, la cual veía como la paz definitiva, o al menos eso siento yo al leerla y creo que el arreglista musical hizo un gran trabajo armonizando el poema, porque transmite paz y la sensación de descanso.

I don't want my message in this post to be sad, on the contrary, I want to invite you to smile at life and each of its facets. Just like the song I shared with you yesterday, added to this other one we performed at the same concert, we can see that there are many people suffering calamities just like you, just like me, but who remain positive, who continue to believe in hope and who try to remain happy and smile. I know that a suicide is not the best example of this, but the longing for healing that you convey in your poem is. I always remember all the prayers in my dad's final moments, we asked over and over again for healing and in fact that is what happened when he died, my dad had the final healing of his tired and hurting body.... Deep down, the release of a downtrodden soul is also a reason to smile at life 🙏

No quiero que mi mensaje en este post sea triste, al contrario, quiero invitarlos a sonreírle a la vida y a cada una de sus facetas. Al igual que el canto que les compartí ayer, sumado a este otro que interpretamos en el mismo concierto, podemos ver que hay mucha gente sufriendo calamidades igual que tú, igual que yo, pero que siguen siendo positivos, que siguen creyendo en la esperanza y que tratan de seguir siendo felices y de sonreír. Sé que un suicidio no es el mejor ejemplo de esto, pero sí el anhelo de sanación que transmite en su poema. Siempre recuerdo todas las oraciones en los momentos finales de mi papá, pedimos una y otra vez la sanación y de hecho eso fue lo que ocurrió cuando murió, mi papá tuvo las sanación definitiva de su cuerpo cansado y lastimado... En el fondo, la liberación de un alma oprimida también es motivo para sonreírle a la vida 🙏
