Body Flow Series #22: Recovery Freestyle Pole

Do you still aim for progress or improvement when you are recovering from sickness? For me yes, but there are several aspects of improvement that we can look at. Today, I choose to improve my perspective on rest and recovery. Before, I get sad and frustrated when I am sick because I cannot train. I was feeling so sick lately but I chose to respect my body and just enjoy the rest that it needed.

Finally I was vaccinated with COVID 19 vaccine Astra Zeneca. I had my first shot last week. I was informed that headache and fever is a possible side-effect of the vaccine. However, 4 hours after my vaccination my fever was so bad, I could not lift my left arm (injected site), I had body malaise and I had the worst headache since the migraine I had when I tried withdrawing from caffeine. I was sick for the next 48 hours -barely able to stand up. I felt so much better on the third day but I feel I had to rest from pole a bit more because my body was still feeling so heavy and my arms were weak, I could not do a decent push up.

This video was the very first pole training I had after a full week of rest from vaccine side-effects. The response of my body was really bad but I hope this would not discourage anyone to have themselves vaccinated. Instead, let this be a helpful information that some people may suffer side effects worse than others and should prepare atleast the next 48 hours of the vaccination schedule so you won't miss anything important incase your body will not respond well.

This video is a short routine I was practicing in my head while recovering. I already knew before I even started warming up exactly the routine that I am going to try. My breathing was a bit challenging after a week long of zero physical activity. I am slowly going back to my routine. It's always beneficial to never rush your body to going back to its normal routine after it has recovered from illness. If this was me t hree years ago, I would have pushed my self for a three-hour training. But today, I chose to just listen to my body and gradually go back to my regular pace when my body feels comfortable with it.

Until next time! Keep moving. Chase your passion.
