Very good evening dear community of @musiczone I hope you are very well and I wish you the best in your presentations.just today I had the opportunity to record something at night and I'm about to write the publication right now. I am very excited because today I am going to share with you a COVER of another very important musical influence in my life, he defined a lot of the style I have when composing songs and even my way of playing the guitar when composing songs. I am talking about nothing more and nothing less than the great Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodriguez, you can say anything about his political stances but this gentleman is a musical master of another level, he is a poet like few others, there is no way I can speak objectively about him because my admiration is unimaginable.
"Y nada mas"
"And nothing else."
To talk about Silvio's songs is to limit them, they are an experience, they touch you, they move you, they inevitably pierce you. But if I could say something about the song I am going to interpret today, I could say that it is an ode to simplicity and melancholy. The lyrics themselves are a poem. I read at some point that the poet Mario Bennedetti said that Silvio's songs could be read as poems and as poems they could also be songs, a particular statement of this great poet. Silvo is admired, he is also hated, but no one can say that his music is of an unequalled level.
On the other hand it is always a little nostalgic when a song makes you feel so identified, in this case I feel this song as if I was suffering it, as if all that melancholy belonged to me, in spite of not wanting to feel self-absorbed. But well, that's just me rambling again. I hope you can enjoy this interpretation made with dedication for whoever wants to listen.
Original Song
Lyrics
No hay nada aquí:
Sólo unos días que se aprestan a pasar,
Sólo una tarde en que se puede respirar
Un diminuto instante inmenso en el vivir.
Después mirar la realidad y nada más.
Y nada más.
Ahora me parece
English versión :
There is nothing here:
Just a few days that are getting ready to pass,
Just an afternoon in which to breathe
A tiny immense instant in living.
Then look at reality and nothing more.
And nothing else.
Now it seems to me
I would have lived
A stream of centuries
On old roads.
There is nothing here:
Just a few days that are about to pass,
Just an afternoon in which to breathe
A tiny immense instant in living.
Then look at reality and nothing more.
And nothing else.
