"Blowing Bubbles" [ES - EN]

Parte de las pasiones que tengo en mi vida son el fútbol, la música y las películas; todo eso se reunió en el momento que vi el film "Green Street" (2005), también conocido como "Hooligans", la cual narra la historia de un joven americano que viaja a Londres en dónde al conocer al hermano de su cuñado, este lo adentra en el mundo del fútbol, preferiblemente en la vida del hincha del West Ham United, club en el cual sus aficionados han tomado como himno la canción "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles", escrito en 1918 por "Ben Selvin's Novelty Orchestra" y que se ha vuelto una marca para ese club así como lo es "You’ll Never Walk Alone" para el Liverpool; toda esta expresión de apoyo desde el aficionado hacia su club, es algo que debería ser obligatorio de presenciar en los estadios de fútbol y no la imagen lamentable de los Hooligans y traigo esto a acotación porque justamente en la final por la UEFA Europa Conference League, se vio hechos lamentables entre los aficionados de los clubes que disputaron dicha final, lo cual se agravió más cuando el capitán de la Fiorentina fue agredido dentro del estadio al ser impactado por una botella proveniente de los aficionados del West Ham, esa situación debió ser usada para que la UEFA demostrara poder en el rechazo de la violencia en el fútbol castigando al club inglés, pero hasta este día, no hay señalamientos sobre los culpables o sobre un castigo ejemplar hacia el club y sus aficionados.

Después de esa extensa introducción, me enfocaré en hablar de la segunda final de esta joven competición que uso al estadio Eden Arena de Praga como sede de la segunda final de la UECL; los clubes West Ham United y Fiorentina, disputaron lo que es considerado el tercer título en importancia para los clubes de Europa, un título que aparte del premio económico, también tiene como premio ser parte de la Europa League en la próxima temporada y este es un premio importante para estos dos clubes que en sus torneos locales quedaron lejos de los puestos clasificatorios para dichos torneos y es que por ejemplo, el club inglés estuvo luchando para no descender y el italiano a pesar de estar por encima de los puestos de mitad de tabla, quedó muy lejos de otros clubes que si clasificaron para los tres torneos de UEFA. Posiblemente, este sea la final que menos expectativas creó en los aficionados al fútbol, pero en lo personal la quería ver porque estaba convencido de que sería un partido emocionante y tenía un aliciente, el cual era de ver a Declan Rice y Sofyan Amrabat, ambos jugadores muy importantes para el balance tanto defensivo como ofensivo de sus respectivos equipos. Este juego se disputó de una manera menos apacionante que el del miércoles de la semana anterior por la Europa League, con esto no digo que está final no fue emocionante, con esto quiero decir que el plan de uno de los equipos fue inteligente y con eso le refiero al West Ham, equipo que le dio toda iniciativa a su rival; el equipo de Moyes decidió esperar atrás aunque no tan atrincherado en su área, pero si en una zona baja del campo para después poco a poco avanzar y aprovechar cualquier fallo de su rival; esta manera de jugar le dio la posibilidad de afrontar los últimos minutos con más descanso y es por eso que tanto sus centrocampistas como sus delanteros aprovecharon el desgaste de su rival y tan solo con un pase a la profundidad realizado por Paquetá, hacia su compañero, Jarrod Bowen, fue suficiente para finiquitar el encuentro a su favor en el último minuto reglamentario.

Possibly, this is the final that created the least expectations in soccer fans, but personally I wanted to see it because I was convinced that it would be an exciting game and had an incentive, which was to see Declan Rice and Sofyan Amrabat, both very important players for the balance both defensively and offensively of their respective teams. This game was played in a less exciting way than the one on Wednesday of the previous week for the Europa League, with this I am not saying that this final was not exciting, with this I mean that the plan of one of the teams was intelligent and by that I mean West Ham, team that gave all initiative to their rival; Moyes' team decided to wait behind but not so entrenched in their area, but in a low area of the field and then gradually move forward and take advantage of any failure of their rival; This way of playing gave them the possibility to face the last minutes with more rest and that is why both their midfielders and strikers took advantage of their rival's attrition and just with a deep pass made by Paqueta, towards his teammate, Jarrod Bowen, it was enough to finish the game in their favor in the last minute.

Esta final fue el claro ejemplo de como un equipo con ciertas limitaciones debe enfrentar un partido en dónde tiene como importancia un título que abre las puertas a otras posibilidades; el equipo inglés estuvo mejor concentrado, fue más determinante y más confiable que su rival y es que al verlos jugar me hizo recordar que la pasada temporada estuvieron muy cerca de disputar la final de la Europa League y creo que en esta oportunidad, esa experiencia fue muy relevante para disputar este torneo y ganarlo. Este es el segundo gran título que gana el West Ham en su historia, el primero fue la antigua "Recopa de Europa" en 1965 y ahora gana este nuevo título que en mi opinión es una versión actual de ese antiguo torneo que en su época fue importante; 12 victorias del equipo inglés le hicieron obtener este título el cual cierra una temporada difícil, pero que sin ninguna duda tuvo un final feliz.

This final was a clear example of how a team with certain limitations must face a match where the importance of a title opens the door to other possibilities; the English team was better focused, more determined and more reliable than its rival and watching them play reminded me that last season they were very close to play the final of the Europa League and I think that in this opportunity, that experience was very relevant to play this tournament and win it. This is the second great title that West Ham has won in its history, the first was the old "European Cup Winners' Cup" in 1965 and now it wins this new title that in my opinion is a current version of that old tournament that in its time was important; 12 victories of the English team made them obtain this title which closes a difficult season, but that without any doubt had a happy ending.
