Baba Yetu | Singing the Lord's Prayer in an Important African Language | Padre Nuestro | Eng-Esp

The song in this video is called Baba Yetu, is by composer Christopher Tin and happens to be the translation of the Lord's Prayer into Swahili, a language spoken by many countries in the brother continent of Africa. With this wonderful musical background I want to start this post.

El canto de este video se llama Baba Yetu, es del compositor Christopher Tin y resulta ser la traducción del Padre Nuestro a la lengua suajili, idioma que hablan muchos países del hermano continente africano. El solista que canta es mi compañero tenor Gabriel Sánchez y el pianista es el barítono Johann Montenegro. Con esta maravilloso fondo musical quiero comenzar este post.

Hello beautiful people! I am honored to greet you through this sister musical community with the purpose of sharing with you part of the experience that is being lived in Caracas with the arrival of ten international artists that have made us the World Orchestra and the World Choir of El Sistema de Orquestas y Coros, on the way to the Second World Congress that will begin next Monday. I believe that we have never had so much activity in our headquarters because absolutely all the groups in Caracas are working at the same time, in the same place and the whole day to achieve success in the future presentations that will project us again to the international scene.

¡Hola gente hermosa!. Me honra saludarlos por esta comunidad musical hermana con el motivo de compartirles parte de la experiencia que se está viviendo en Caracas con la llegada de decena de artistas internacionales que nos han convertido en la Orquesta Mundial y el Coro Mundial de El Sistema de Orquestas y Coros, rumbo al Segundo Congreso Mundial que comenzará el próximo lunes. Creo que nunca habíamos tenido tanta actividad en nuestra sede porque absolutamente todas las agrupaciones de Caracas se encuentran trabajando al mismo tiempo, en el mismo lugar y el día entero para lograr el éxito en las futuras presentaciones que nos proyectarán nuevamente al panorama internacional.

Today is Friday, and the body knows it hahaha, I feel very tired even though it is dawn, but that is due to the intensity of the work, we never sing so many hours in a row, but at the same time I feel satisfied and with great expectation. Just to see the international guests of the choir already comforts me, they are people who came willing to work and enjoy this experience. As I said in a previous post, it makes me happy that in the tenors we all speak Spanish, since the guests come from Colombia, Dominican Republic and Argentina, but my podre Jhoxiris who is the one who directs the rehearsal of the sopranos for being string leader has to deal with girls who come from Greece and Tunisia haha, although they are already adapting to Spanish and eventually communication may be in English or through a Venezuelan soprano who knows other languages, I wish her success with that, because I do not know if I could 😅

Hoy es viernes, y el cuerpo lo sabe jajaja, me siento muy cansado a pesar de que está amaneciendo, pero eso se debe a la intensidad del trabajo, nunca cantamos tantas horas seguidas, pero a la vez me siento satisfecho y con mucha expectativa. Solo de ver a los invitados internacionales del coro ya me reconforta, son personas que llegaron dispuestas a trabajar y disfrutar esta experiencia. Como dije en un post anterior, me hace feliz que en los tenores todos hablamos español, ya que los invitados llegan de Colombia, República Dominicana y Argentina, pero mi podre Jhoxiris que es la que dirige el ensayo de las sopranos por ser jefe de cuerda tiene que lidiar con chicas que vienen de Grecia y Túnez jaja, aunque ya están adaptándose al español y eventualmente la comunicación puede ser en inglés o por medio de alguna soprano venezolana que sepa otros idiomas pues le deseo éxito con eso, porque yo no sé si podría 😅

Although I love my job, I don't think I felt an emotion like this since the national tour we had last year, because there really are very special events, events that not only unite us musically, but also strengthen us as people. You have to accept it, as in any job there are always personal differences, especially in my group where we are more than 90 people, but although the music appeases us day by day, these experiences where we share full days, hotel rooms and eat together eventually brings out the best in us and we learn to know and support each other more, and that is felt in our singing; I know we are excellent professionals by nature, but I am sure that when we focus so much on the same goal and understand who we have next to us, these more than 90 hearts beat to the same rhythm, to the beat of our director...

Aunque amo mi trabajo, creo que no sentía una emoción como esta desde la gira nacional que tuvimos el año pasado, porque realmente hay eventos muy especiales, eventos que no solo nos unen en lo musical, sino que también nos fortalece como personas. Hay que aceptarlo, al igual que en cualquier trabajo siempre existen diferencias personales, sobretodo en mi agrupación donde somos más de 90 personas, pero aunque la música nos apacigua día a día, estas experiencias donde compartimos días completos, habitaciones de hoteles y comer juntos eventualmente saca lo mejor de nosotros y aprendemos a conocernos y apoyarnos más, y eso se siente en nuestro canto; sé que somos excelentes profesionales por naturaleza, pero estoy seguro que cuando nos enfocamos tanto en la misma meta y entendemos a quien tenemos al lado, estos más de 90 corazones laten al mismo ritmo, al compás de nuestra directora...

As I said before, the guys from other countries have arrived with the best of energy, but we have the mission to make them part of this same feeling and our Venezuelan rhythm to make music, I think we are all doing a good job in that, not even the language barrier is a problem, English, French and Spanish has been the norm during this week and practically in rehearsals we have not needed translators, at least in the choir, I do not know in the orchestra yet, I have not had the opportunity to meet the guests. In the choir we have people from Brazil, Nicaragua, Tunisia, Argentina, Greece, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Bolivia and Dominican Republic, but I know in the orchestra there are people who came from France, USA, Mexico, Italy, Philippines, South Africa, UK, in short, a worldwide work in Venezuela and waiting for other speakers who will start working on Monday, really there will be a lot of activity, but that has me excited.

Como dije antes, los chicos de otros países han llegado con la mejor de la energía, pero tenemos la misión de hacerlos parte de este mismo sentir y de nuestro ritmo venezolano para hacer música, creo que todos estamos haciendo un buen trabajo en eso, ni siquiera la barrera del idioma es un problema, el inglés el francés y el español ha sido lo normal durante esta semana y prácticamente en los ensayos no hemos necesitado traductores, al menos en el coro, no sé en la orquesta aún, no he tenido oportunidad de conocer a los invitados. En la coral tenemos gente de Brasil, Nicaragua, Túnez, Argentina, Grecia, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Bolivia y República Dominicana, pero sé en la orquesta hay personas que llegaron de Francia, E.U., México, Italia, Filipinas, Sudáfrica, U.K, en fin, un trabajo mundial en Venezuela y la espera de otros ponentes que comenzarán a trabajar el lunes, de verdad habrá mucha actividad, pero eso me tiene emocionado.

I just have to wait for life to surprise me day by day and keep my mind positive to receive the best of the universe and not change this good vibe. I had some time without taking the energy from work to home, and it is really very pleasant and enjoyable for me what we are doing, and I was having a hard time at home being sick and discouraged lately, although there will always be Hive, my other passion waiting for me to sit in front of the PC. In fact, I don't know how I manage to stay active with so much activity hahaha, I'm really kind of addicted.... Solo me queda esperar que la vida me sorprenda día a día y estar con mi mente en positivo para recibir lo mejor del universo y no cambiar esta buena vibra. Tenía tiempo sin llevarme la energía del trabajo a la casa, y es que de verdad es muy grato y placentero para mí lo que estamos haciendo, y vaya que en casa me la estaba pasando enfermo y desanimado últimamente, aunque siempre estará Hive, mi otra pasión esperando a que me siente frente al PC. De hecho, no sé cómo logro mantenerme activo con tanta actividad jajaja, realmente soy algo adicto...
