HIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL Week 50 Second Round (ENG-ESP): "Feelin' Groovy" by Simon & Garfunkel

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Zone Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

Back in Cape Town finally! I was trapped with my wife Julia, daughter Madison and friend Rhonwyn in a small coastal village for longer than originally planned after storms, mudslides and flooding closed both roads back to Cape Town!

Welcome to Week 50 / Round 2 of the Hive Music Festival!

After first doing my original songs (Weeks 1-22), and then challenging myself to play a wacky new instrument every week (Weeks 23-42), I had started to base my Hive Music Festival entries (Weeks 43-47) on duets with my good friend @clairemobey. Me like to call our duo “MobeyDick”!

Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to see Claire this week. Because I was stuck in the coastal village, I hardly got to see ANYBODY this week! Hahaha! So, let me sing you a song by myself this week. I am a massive fan of Paul Simon (as I mentioned when I did a song from his solo album “Graceland” two weeks ago), and I am also a massive fan of his earlier duo “Simon and Garfunkel” with Art Garfunkel who has the voice of an angel!

I’d like to sing the song I simply call “Feelin’ Groovy”, but its full name is “The 59th Street Bridge Song”! I have found a simple enough way to get the finger-picking feel of the song by sliding simplified major and minor chord shapes that focus on the 5th string for the bass and the 2nd string for the treble, and it sounds quite a lot like the original guitar work. Of course, the original also has a jazzy brushed drumkit, what sounds to me like a proper double-bass, and I also think a second guitar? Check it out here:

He encontrado una forma bastante sencilla de conseguir la sensación de tocar la canción con los dedos deslizando formas simplificadas de acordes mayores y menores que se centran en la quinta cuerda para el bajo y la segunda cuerda para los agudos, y suena bastante parecido al Trabajo de guitarra original.
