¡Hola Hivers! Siendo conscientes de las complicadas situaciones por las que atraviesa el mundo. La entrevista con el papel de hoy está dedicada a una pieza emblemática de la paz, o, mejor dicho, el deseo por la paz.

Hello Hivers! Being aware of the complicated situations that the world is going through. Today's paper interview is dedicated to an emblematic piece of peace, or rather, the desire for peace.

Todo se remonta a la historia de una de las víctimas de la bomba de Hiroshima, Sadako Sasaki, que, siguiendo la leyenda de Senbazuru, deseó su recuperación de la leucemia.

It all goes back to the story of one of the Hiroshima bomb victims, Sadako Sasaki, who, following the legend of Senbazuru, wished her recovery from leukemia.

Senbazuru es el arte de crear un conjunto de mil grullas de origami unidas por hilos para que los dioses te cumplan un deseo.

Es una tradición milenaria en Japón y una costumbre que me parece bastante perfecta.

Senbazuru is the art of creating a set of a thousand origami cranes linked by threads so that the gods can fulfill a wish.

It is an ancient tradition in Japan and a custom that seems quite perfect to me.

Construí este trío de grullas inspiradas en el tricolor de mi bandera, la de Venezuela.

También es el tricolor que une e identifica a una mayoría de países de Latinoamérica como bandera.

I built this trio of cranes inspired by the tricolor of my flag, that of Venezuela.

It is also the tricolor that unites and identifies a majority of Latin American countries as a flag.

Nos conecta un pasado y un deseo de cese a la miseria, el hambre, la muerte y los conflictos que tanto han dañado nuestra historia.

Y que aun hoy, persisten y no esperaba vivir al crecer.

We are connected by a past and a desire for an end to misery, hunger, death and the conflicts that have damaged our history so much.

And that even today, they persist and I did not expect to live when growing up.

Para aquellos que quizás me estén leyendo por primera vez, tanto mi prometida y yo somos venezolanos e inmigrantes a causa de la dictadura en mi país.

For those who may be reading me for the first time, both my fiancée and I are Venezuelans and immigrants because of the dictatorship in my country.

¿Mi deseo? Creo que es igual al de casi todos, y, aunque suene como respuesta de Miss Universo: Paz.

Querer la paz sabemos que no es suficiente, pero a veces se cumple lo que con mucha fuerza deseamos. O esa es la intención detrás de la tradición del Senbazuru.

My wish? I think it's the same as almost everyone's, and, although it sounds like a response from Miss Universe: Peace.

We know that wanting peace is not enough, but sometimes what we strongly desire comes true. Or that is the intention behind the senbazuru tradition.

Las grullas de origami representan en Japón, el deseo más aspirado por todos y también el más difícil de conseguir.

Se suelen regalar como símbolo de buena salud, felicidad y suerte. Porque requieren mucha constancia y determinación.

¿Se imaginan que cada uno de nosotros hiciera mil grullas? Sería como cuando Goku hizo la genki-dama.

The origami cranes represent in Japan, the most aspired desire for all and also the most difficult to achieve.

They are usually given as a symbol of good health, happiness and luck. Because they require a lot of perseverance and determination.

Can you imagine if each of us made a thousand cranes? It would be like when Goku did the genki-dama.

Porque siempre unidos por un objetivo somos más fuertes, más capaces, mejores.

La grulla se realiza en 29 pasos, así que se considera de dificultad media.

Y si logras dominar sus dobleces entenderás fácilmente como conseguir armar otras piezas de mayor dificultad.

Because always united by a goal we are stronger, more capable, better.

The crane is done in 29 steps, so it is considered of medium difficulty.

And if you manage to master its folds, you will easily understand how to assemble other more difficult pieces.

Como curiosidad, y prueba de mi pasión por el origami, tengo una grulla tatuada en mi pantorrilla izquierda.

Porque, además, es uno de mis dos origami favoritos. El otro es una sorpresa que comentaré en otra oportunidad de Entrevista con el papel.

As a curiosity, and proof of my passion for origami, I have a crane tattooed on my left calf.
