A fun birthday
Esta semana tuve la oportunidad de ir de nuevo a Dolphin Crepes para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi amiga Nayelsi. El plan era tomar café y comer un delicioso pastel de tres leches, muy tradicional en Venezuela. Pero la novedad de la tarde fue que nuestra foto con la cumpleañera iba a ser impresa en el café. ¿Qué? Pues sí... Era la primera vez que lo vivía de cerca y me emocioné mucho.

Las otras amigas de Nayelsi y yo llegamos a tiempo y esperamos a los demás invitados y a la cumpleañera durante un buen rato. Mientras tanto, charlábamos y nos hacíamos fotos, hasta que finalmente la cumpleañera apareció con un colorido traje y el cabello muy bien peinado. Estaba guapísima. Inmediatamente, el fotógrafo de la tienda comenzó a capturar las fotos de todos con Nayelsi para poder imprimirlas en el café.

Starting with energy

This week I had the opportunity to go to Dolphin Crepes again to celebrate my friend Nayelsi's birthday. The plan was to have coffee and eat a delicious tres leches cake, very traditional in Venezuela. But the novelty of the afternoon was that our photo with the birthday girl was going to be printed on the coffee. What? Well, yes... It was the first time I experienced it up close and I was very excited.

Nayelsi's other friends and I arrived on time and waited for the other guests and the birthday girl for quite a while. In the meantime, we chatted and took pictures of each other, until finally the birthday girl showed up in a colorful outfit with her hair nicely combed. She looked beautiful.
Immediately, the store photographer started capturing photos of everyone with Nayelsi so we could print them in the café.

Una cafetera que imprime fotos
Todos estábamos ansiosos por recibir nuestros cafés. Mientras tanto, aproveché para observar el proceso de preparación, hice algunas tomas pero la chica, que era muy amable, no quiso salir en pantalla mientras yo filmaba y quise respetarla.

El proceso de impresión en la espuma es muy similar a la impresión de una página de papel. Se captura la imagen, se envía a la máquina de impresión de café mediante un código QR y se pulsa el botón "ON". Cuando el sensor de la máquina detecta la taza, sale el café, y al final, en la superficie, la tinta captura la foto en la espuma del café servido.

Este procedimiento ya es muy común en muchas cafeterías del mundo actualmente, pero es realmente atrayente. En Venezuela es relativamente nuevo y su precio oscila entre 4 y 3 dólares por un café grande.

A coffee maker that prints photos
We were all anxious to receive our coffees. In the meantime, I took the opportunity to observe the preparation process, I took some shots but the girl, who was very nice, did not want to be on screen while I was filming and I wanted to respect her.

The printing process on the foam is very similar to printing a page of paper. You capture the image, send it to the coffee printing machine via a QR code and press the "ON" button. When the machine's sensor detects the cup, the coffee comes out, and at the end, on the surface, the ink captures the photo in the foam of the coffee served.

This procedure is already very common in many coffee shops in the world today, but it is really attractive. In Venezuela it is relatively new and its price ranges between 4 and 3 dollars for a large coffee.

Una espera recompensada
Cuando llegaron nuestros cafés, todos los presentes nos alegramos de ver nuestras caras en la espuma. Es realmente emocionante ver la foto en la taza. Todos y cada uno de los cafés salieron con un bonito color sepia, como de fotos envejecidas que le daban un tono especial.

Después de fotografiar nuestras tazas, fue una verdadera pena añadir el azúcar y removerlas. Todos lamentamos la desaparición de la foto que nos había hecho esperar tanto, pero al final, tuvimos nuestro café y nuestra tarta y disfrutamos de una tarde espléndida.

A rewarded wait

When our coffees arrived, all of us present were happy to see our faces in the foam. It is really exciting to see the photo in the cup.

Each and every one of the coffees came out with a nice sepia color, like aged photos that gave it a special tone.

After photographing our cups, it was a real shame to add the sugar and stir them. We all regretted the disappearance of the photo that had made us wait so long, but in the end, we had our coffee and cake and enjoyed a splendid afternoon.
