This temperature sensor is the one that informs the control unit, ECU, of the engine's service temperature, so that it can proceed to adjust the amount of fuel and the ignition point. It is important to note that this sensor has a resistance with a negative temperature coefficient, this means that the internal resistance decreases as the temperature increases and increases as the temperature decreases.

Este sensor de temperatura, es el que informa a la unidad de control, ECU, la temperatura de servicio del motor, para que proceda a ajustar la cantidad de combustible y el punto de encendido. Es importante señalar, que este sensor posee una resistencia con coeficiente de temperatura negativo, esto significa que la resistencia interna disminuye a medida que aumenta la temperatura y aumenta en la medida que disminuye la temperatura.

Cuando la temperatura del motor aumenta o disminuye, el sensor emite unos valores que la unidad de control va a tomar en cuenta para ajustar o regular la cantidad de combustible en el motor, en caso que el motor este frío, se utilizará más combustible para calentar el motor rápidamente, luego en la medida que el motor va calentando, se van reduciendo estos valores, y por consiguiente la Unidad de Control, va a disminuir la cantidad de combustible, por esta razón es importante que el sensor de temperatura este en buen estado de funcionamiento.

When the temperature sensor is bad, it most likely sent wrong signal to ECU control unit, for example, if the sensor sends a signal that the engine is cold, when it is not, then the ECU , it will use this incorrect value and send a signal to the injection system to increase the amount of fuel, which apart from consuming more gasoline than necessary, will affect engine performance, in this case, the computer will not activate the electric fans either, because it assumes that the engine is cold, causing the engine to overheat. So it is important that the ECT temperature sensor is in good working order.

Cuando el sensor de temperatura esta en mal estado, lo más seguro es que envié una señal incorrecta a la unidad de control ECU, por ejemplo, si el sensor envía una señal de que el motor esta frío, cuando no lo esta, entonces la ECU, utilizará este valor incorrecto y enviará una señal al sistema de inyección para aumentar la cantidad de combustible, lo cual a parte de consumir más gasolina de lo necesario, afectará el rendimiento del motor, en este caso, la computadora tampoco activara los electro ventiladores, porque supone que el motor está frío, ocasionando que el motor se recaliente. De manera que es importante que el sensor de temperatura ECT, este en buen estado de funcionamiento.

At room temperature, if the value is well below 2000 Ohms, we can say that it is damaged.

Bueno amigos, para esta prueba voy a utilizar un multimetro o tester, el cual lo pondré a funcionar en la escala de ohms, es importante señalar, que cuando un sensor de temperatura esta en buen estado, debe mostrar unos valores entre 2.000 y 2.300 ohmios a temperatura ambiente, si el valor esta muy por debajo de 2000 Ohmios, podemos decir que esta dañado.

Regarding the second test, we also realized that the values ​​were decreasing as the It heated up the resistance of the sensor, so with these two tests, we can say that the sensor is in good condition.
