    About :

"Undisclosed Words" is an interesting phrase that made me think that behind some iconic songs, there are stories, thoughts and people that we may never get to know or discover. An example of this is the well-known theme song Greensleeves, an English folk song that has lasted over time but that comes to us with a curious legend. According to this legend, the song was composed by King Henry VIII of England for his beloved Anne Boleyn. Although this cannot be guaranteed, people nowadays tend to associate this song with the aforementioned characters.

Moved by that story, I decided to make the piano arrangement of the song I'm performing today, Greensleeves.

Before saying goodbye, I share with you the picturesque lyrics of this song of a hardened lover that, although generous in details, does not reveal to us, in any of the words that make up its verses, any clear clue about the author and the muse that inspired this song. beautiful romance.

    Lyrics

Oh, my love, you hurt me,
    To dismiss me impolitely.
Because I have loved you well and for a long time,
    Delight in their company.
    Chorus:152
    Greensleeves was all my joy
    Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady green sleeves?
Your vows that you have broken, like my heart,
Oh, why did you charm me so much?
Now I'm left in a world apart
But my heart remains in captivity.
    (Chorus)
I have been ready in your hand,
To grant what you long for,
I have staked life and earth,
Your love and good will to have.
    (Chorus)
If that's how you intend to disdain,
    the more it captivates me,
    And still I keep staying
    A lover in captivity.
    (Chorus)
My men were all dressed in green,
    And they always waited on you;
All this was gallant to be seen,
And yet you wouldn't love me.
    (Chorus)
You couldn't wish for anything earthly,
but you still had it easy.
    Your music still to play and sing;
And yet you wouldn't love me.
    (Chorus)
Well I'll pray to God on high
so you can see my perseverance,
    And that once before dying,
You will deign to love me.
    (Chorus)
    Ah, Greensleeves, now goodbye, goodbye,
I pray to God that you prosper,
Cause I'm still your true lover
Come one more time and love me.

Thanks for stopping by here. Bye!

    Letra

Ay, mi amor, me haces mal,
    Para desecharme descortésmente.
Porque te he amado bien y por mucho tiempo,
    Deleitarse en su compañía.
    Estribillo:152
    Greensleeves fue toda mi alegría
    Greensleeves fue mi deleite,
Greensleeves era mi corazón de oro,
¿Y quién sino mi señora mangas verdes?
Tus votos que has roto, como mi corazón,
Oh, ¿por qué me embelesaste tanto?
Ahora me quedo en un mundo aparte
Pero mi corazón permanece en cautiverio.
    (Estribillo)
He estado listo en tu mano,
    Para conceder lo que anhelas,
He apostado la vida y la tierra,
Tu amor y buena voluntad para tener.
    (Estribillo)
    Si así pretendes desdeñar,
    más me embelesa,
    Y aun así sigo quedándome
    Un amante en cautiverio.
    (Estribillo)
Mis hombres estaban vestidos todos de verde,
    Y ellos siempre esperaron en ti;
Todo esto era gallardo para ser visto,
Y sin embargo, no me amarías.
    (Estribillo)
    No podrías desear nada terrenal,
pero aun así lo tuviste fácilmente.
    Tu música aún para tocar y cantar;
Y sin embargo, no me amarías.
    (Estribillo)
Bueno, rezaré a Dios en lo alto,
    para que veas mi constancia,
Y que una vez antes de morir,
    Tú te dignarás amarme.
    (Estribillo)
    Ah, Greensleeves, ahora adiós, adieu,
A Dios ruego que te prospere,
Porque sigo siendo tu verdadero amante,
Ven una vez más y ámame.

Gracias por pasar por aquí. Chau!
