La Urbanización el Trébol, es una de las zonas referenciales de la ciudad jardín, con más de 50 años de fundación es una de las localidades más antiguas de Maracay. Y desde hace 25 años se viene realizando la tradicional caimanera de pelotica de media los días 24 y 31 de diciembre y en la cual se dan cita antiguos y nuevos vecinos para un momento de compartir.

El pasado domingo, se llevó a cabo la esperada edición número 25 de esta icónica caimanera, la cual fue promocionada incluso a través de medios nacionales como Televen y algunas emisoras de radio. Se prometió un día lleno de sorpresas, unión y camaradería.

The Urbanization El Trébol is one of the reference areas of the garden city, with more than 50 years of foundation it is one of the oldest localities of Maracay. And for the last 25 years the traditional "caimanera de pelotica de media" has been held on December 24 and 31, where old and new neighbors gather for a moment of sharing.

Last Sunday, the 25th edition of this iconic caimanera took place, which was even promoted through national media such as Televen and some radio stations. A day full of surprises, union and camaraderie was promised.

El evento se desarrolló en el estacionamiento de la urbanización, justo en la ubicación de la cancha techada. En los días previos, se llevaron a cabo labores de limpieza exhaustiva y demarcación de la zona de juego.

Las reglas de la pelotica de media son sencillas y características de una caimanera. Se juega en equipos de seis personas, compuestos por un pitcher, un cátcher, un primera base, un tercera base y dos fildeadores. No es necesario correr las bases; si la pelota pasa de hit entre la primera línea formada por el lanzador, el primera y la tercera base, se considera hit. Si es un roletazo que ataja cualquiera de estos, es un out automático. Si la pelota llega de aire al final del estacionamiento, se considera jonrón.

El juego consta de tres innings, y el equipo ganador permanece en el campo esperando a su próximo rival, sucediéndose así hasta que cae la noche. Las pelotas utilizadas son confeccionadas exclusivamente con medias y están hábilmente elaboradas. En la jornada de ayer, se utilizaron bates de madera, creando un ambiente perfecto para disfrutar de un día agradable.

The event took place in the parking lot of the urbanization, right in the location of the roofed court. In the days prior to the event, a thorough cleaning and demarcation of the playing area was carried out.

The rules of pelotica de media are simple and characteristic of a caimanera. It is played in teams of six, consisting of a pitcher, a catcher, a first baseman, a third baseman and two fielders. It is not necessary to run the bases; if the ball is hit between the first line formed by the pitcher, the first baseman and the third baseman, it is considered a hit. If it is a bunt that is caught by any of these, it is an automatic out. If the ball arrives in the air at the end of the parking lot, it is considered a home run.

The game consists of three innings, and the winning team remains on the field waiting for its next opponent, and the game continues until nightfall. The balls used are made exclusively from socks and are skillfully crafted. Yesterday, wooden bats were used, creating a perfect atmosphere for a pleasant day.

En estas caimaneras, siempre hay algún invitado famoso relacionado al béisbol o softbol que viene a jugar. En años pasados, el invitado fue el jardinero central de los Tigres de Aragua, Carlos Tocci. El domingo, tuve el privilegio de ver jugar en esta caimanera a Yuruby Alicart, perteneciente a la selección nacional de softbol y que representó a nuestro país en los Juegos Olímpicos de Pekín 2008.

Fue fascinante verla jugar. Alicart se presentó al bate en tres ocasiones, logrando conectar cuadrangulares en las dos primeras, otorgando la ventaja a su equipo y llevándose el galardón de la más valiosa del encuentro. En su tercer turno, recibió una base por bolas. Recuerdo que uno de los jugadores del equipo contrario le decía al lanzador que le lanzara, que permitiera que ella creara el espectáculo, ya que eso es lo que define a la caimanera: diversión y reencuentro con viejos amigos.

At these caimaneras, there is always some famous baseball or softball related guest who comes to play. In past years, the guest was the center fielder of the Tigres de Aragua, Carlos Tocci. On Sunday, I had the privilege of watching Yuruby Alicart, a member of the national softball team who represented our country in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, play in this caymanera.

It was fascinating to watch her play. Alicart came to bat three times, hitting home runs in the first two, giving her team the lead and earning the game's most valuable player award. In his third at-bat, he received a base on balls. I remember one of the players of the opposing team telling the pitcher to pitch to her, to let her create the show, since that is what defines the Caimanera: fun and reunion with old friends.

Me resulta encantador que esta tradición decembrina se mantenga en la Urbanización El Trébol, permitiendo que nuevas generaciones se sumen para dar vida y preservar esta caimanera a través del tiempo. No me queda más que esperar hasta el próximo 31 para disfrutar nuevamente de este divertido juego.

I find it delightful that this Christmas tradition is maintained in Urbanización El Trébol, allowing new generations to join in to give life and preserve this caimanera through time. I can only wait until next 31st to enjoy this fun game again.
