Greetings to all the passionate and curious travelers of the Pinmaple community! Returning to this corner is synonymous with taking off on new adventures, discovering fascinating places and creating unforgettable memories. Today, I am excited to take you by the hand to a hidden gem of our city: The Luis Hernan Paredes Aeronautical Museum. This cultural treasure, the only one of its kind in Venezuela and the third most important in all of Latin America, is much more than a place, it is a portal to the history of the skies.

¡Saludos a todos los apasionados viajeros y curiosos de la comunidad Pinmaple! Regresar a este rincón es sinónimo de despegar en nuevas aventuras, descubrir lugares fascinantes y crear memorias inolvidables. Hoy, estoy emocionado de llevarlos de la mano a una joya oculta de nuestra ciudad: el Museo Aeronáutico Luis Hernán Paredes. Este tesoro cultural, el único de su clase en Venezuela y el tercero más importante en toda Latinoamérica, es mucho más que un lugar, es un portal hacia la historia de los cielos.

Undoubtedly, entering this museum is a unique journey, a trip back in time that unites history with the fascination for aviation. The flying exhibits were a ritual in my family, especially on the day dedicated to Venezuelan aviation. However, one experience remained pending: exploring the Aeronautical Museum. So, I decided to close this pending debt and set out to discover this treasure.

Sin lugar a dudas, adentrarse en este museo es una travesía única, un viaje en el tiempo que une la historia con la fascinación por la aviación. Las exhibiciones de vuelo eran un ritual en mi familia, especialmente en el día dedicado a la aviación venezolana. Sin embargo, una experiencia quedaba pendiente: explorar el Museo Aeronáutico. Así que, decidí cerrar esa deuda pendiente y lanzarme a descubrir este tesoro.

Strategically located in the heart of the city, the museum was erected in 1963 under the vision of Engineer Luis Guillermo Salas. Its enclave is historic, occupying the land that once housed the Florencio Gómez National Airport, now shared with the Military School. Each aircraft exhibited in this space is a fragment of the Venezuelan aeronautical chronicle, a window to the first flights that paid tribute to the heroes that gave wings to our history.

Ubicado estratégicamente en el corazón de la ciudad, el museo fue erigido en 1963 bajo la visión del Ingeniero Luis Guillermo Salas. Su enclave es histórico, ocupando los terrenos que alguna vez albergaron el Aeropuerto Nacional Florencio Gómez, ahora compartidos con la Escuela Militar. Cada aeronave exhibida en este espacio es un fragmento de la crónica aeronáutica venezolana, una ventana hacia los primeros vuelos que rindieron tributo a los héroes que dieron alas a nuestra historia.

Exploring the museum is a delight for the senses. Although it is immersed in the hustle and bustle of the city, it is surrounded by gardens that invite you to disconnect from the urban din. A highlight of this experience is the opportunity to climb aboard select licensed helicopters and aircraft. This interaction is a wonderfully immersive touch that, in a museum of this stature, takes on a unique significance.

Explorar el museo es un deleite para los sentidos. Aunque se encuentra inmerso en el bullicio de la ciudad, está rodeado de jardines que te invitan a desconectar del estruendo urbano. Un punto culminante de esta experiencia es la oportunidad de subirse a determinados helicópteros y aviones autorizados. Esta interacción es un toque maravillosamente inmersivo que, en un museo de esta categoría, cobra un significado único.

The visit presents us with an immense collection of aircraft, about a hundred, ranging from 1920 to 1985, eras that marked milestones in the history of Venezuelan aviation. Among these relics are the "Vaca Sagrada"(The Holy Cow), Venezuela's first presidential plane, the replica of the Flamingo plane that belonged to the iconic aviator Jimmy Angel, and an observation and light attack plane of U.S. origin, used in the fight against guerrilla warfare. The latter stood out for its ability to fly at low altitude, a testimony of bravery in challenging times.

La visita nos presenta una inmensa colección de aeronaves, cerca de un centenar, que abarcan desde 1920 hasta 1985, épocas que marcaron hitos en la historia de la aviación venezolana. Entre estas reliquias destaca la "Vaca Sagrada", el primer avión presidencial de Venezuela, la réplica del avión Flamingo que perteneció al icónico aviador Jimmy Ángel, y un avión de observación y ataque ligero de origen estadounidense, utilizado en la lucha contra la guerrilla. Este último se destacaba por su capacidad de vuelo a baja altura, un testimonio de valentía en tiempos desafiantes.

The Aeronautical Museum opens its doors Monday through Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For only $1 per person, we can immerse ourselves in the history that has taken us to the skies. El Museo Aeronáutico nos abre sus puertas de lunes a domingo, desde las 8:00 a. m. hasta las 4:00 p. m.
