HIVE OPEN MIC #206 (ENG/ESP): Poesia/Poetry - "Kathy's Song" by Simon & Garfunkel!

Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa.

Welcome to Week 206 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is “Poesia”, which means “Poetry”!

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. Well, almost all songs with lyrics are poetry, but I suppose some lyrics are more poetical than others (“I brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack”?) I recommended:

• “Atlantis” by Donovan
• “Changes” by Tupac feat. Talent
• “Kathy’s Song” by Simon & Garfunkel

Let’s tackle that last one!

I love Simon & Garfunkel, and many of their other songs would have fit the bill. I’m pretty sure I’ve already tackled “For Emily Whenever I May Find Her” for some other Hive Open Mic theme, but another beautiful, poetical song with intricate and challenging finger-picking is “Kathy’s Song”. Here is a beautiful video of them playing it live… WOW!

So, let’s give it a shot!

Bueno, casi todas las canciones con letra son poesía, pero supongo que algunas letras son más poéticas que otras (“¿Me lavo los dientes con una botella de Jack”?) Yo recomendé:

Amo a Simon & Garfunkel, y muchas de sus otras canciones habrían encajado a la perfección. Estoy bastante seguro de que ya he abordado “For Emily Whenever I May Find Her” para algún otro tema de Hive Open Mic, pero otra canción hermosa y poética con toques de dedos intrincados y desafiantes es “Kathy’s Song”.
