Este pasado domingo fue bastante especial porque tuve un compartir con especialistas de un deporte que desde hace un tiempo vengo explorando, este deporte no es otro que el Frontón Peruano. En esta primera entrega, te presento un partido que disputé contra un profesional de este deporte; extrapolándolo al ámbito ajedrecístico sentí como jugar contra un gran maestro. Como es costumbre en todo encuentro deportivo, no puede faltar el saludo inicial:

This past Sunday was quite special because I had a sharing with specialists of a sport that I have been exploring for some time, this sport is none other than the Peruvian Fronton. In this first installment, I present a match I played against a professional of this sport; extrapolating it to the chess field, I felt like playing against a grandmaster. As it is customary in every sporting encounter, the initial greeting cannot be missing:

Posterior a eso comenzó la acción, mi contrincante de nombre Jimmy en el primer set jugó de manera intencional por debajo de su nivel, pudiéndole sacar 03 puntitos:

Aún así la ventaja fue considerable, ganó por 12 puntos este primer set. No quería ni imaginar lo que pasaría en el segundo set en el mi amigo Jimmy si jugaría con todo su nivel.

Y en efecto lo gana por 14 puntos de diferencia, pero logré mi reto de ganarle un puntito. Más allá del resultado me siento muy contento de haber jugado con un profesional de este deporte. Me siento muy contento de vivir en carne propia lo complejo del Frontón. Una de las cosas que me aconsejó este maestro, es buscar de ubicar la bola hacia la mano débil del rival, de modo que se vea obligado a golpear con la paleta invertida. Una experiencia bastante bonita que tendrá una segunda entrega: profesional vs. profesional, en la que disfrutaremos de un duelo a 15 puntos.

And indeed he won by 14 points, but I achieved my challenge of beating him by one point. Beyond the result I feel very happy to have played with a professional of this sport. I am very happy to experience first hand the complexity of Fronton. One of the things that this teacher advised me, is to try to place the ball towards the weak hand of the opponent, so that he is forced to hit with the paddle inverted. A very nice experience that will have a second installment: professional vs. professional, in which we will enjoy a duel to 15 points.
