"Razón para Vivir" is one of the best known songs by Argentine composer Víctor Heredia. And it is one of the first songs I played on the guitar to be sung by my life and song partner @jetta.amaya. The first time we performed together was to musicalize a scene of a puppet puppet theater play, it was about a moment in the life of one of the greatest men in the history of Venezuelan independence, Simón Bolívar. Manuela Sáenz, one of the outstanding women, strategist, rebel, who besides participating actively in the war for independence, also shared an intimate relationship with Simón Bolívar, appeared in the play.
So I arpeggiated this sequence of chords during the whole scene, my hand got tired, because the scene was a bit long. While I played the two characters danced behind the proscenium and exchanged their famous love letters. While the two little cloth bodies danced and moved back and forth, my partner's voice recited the third love poem by the Salvadoran poet Roque Dalton:
"To those who tell you
That our love is extraordinary
Because it was born
From extraordinary circumstances
Tell them that we simply struggle
So that a love like ours
-love between comrades in combat-
To become the most common and commonplace love
Almost the only one. "
A magical moment for me, because we chose Dalton's poem for the scene of Bolivar and Manuela, but it was also the first love poem that I gave to my partner when we started dating. And there we were on a small stage of a school in the middle of the city playing, she and I, looking at each other with that complicity that characterizes us. Looking for each other between the notes of the guitar and the words of that beautiful poem, like two little girls playing hide and seek.
From this song, we were weaving together a path of words, verses and songs. But "Razón para vivir" is still one of my favorites, even when I play it alone I mentally go over the lines of the poem. Eight years later our ordinary love is still unique, we continue to build reasons to live together and she and I continue to find each other in music, which is our favorite place.

“A quienes te digan
