Today, I want to remember the musical legacy of Dolores O'Riordan. Her voice was wonderful, melancholic and memorable. On this occasion I share with you my trumpet interpretation of "Dreams", a song by the rock band The Cranberries, which combines elements of folk music and alternative rock. This piece of music was composed by Dolores O'Riordan and Noel Hogan. The lyrics of the song talk about the importance of sharing dreams and hopes with a loved one. The message is hopeful and optimistic, despite the presence of slight shadows of doubt. The song is in the key of A minor with a use of octave jumps that give it a distinctive touch. The chorus features an unexpected key change to D major, creating a moment of emotional uplift. I love the song, the acoustic guitar riff, the solid and simple drum beat, and the bass support. This piece is from 1994 and was about 10 years old at that time. You will surely remember her in the movie The New Karate Kid (1994), and some series of the time.

Hoy quiero recordar el legado musical de Dolores O'Riordan. Su voz era maravillosa, melancólica y memorable. En esta oportunidad les comparto mi interpretación con la trompeta de «Dreams», una canción de la banda de rock The Cranberries, que combina elementos de la música folclórica y el rock alternativo. Esta pieza musical fue compuesta por Dolores O'Riordan y Noel Hogan. La letra de la canción habla de la importancia de compartir sueños y esperanzas con un ser querido. El mensaje es esperanzador y optimista, a pesar de la presencia de ligeras sombras de duda. La canción está en la tonalidad de La menor con un uso de saltos de octava que le dan un toque distintivo. El estribillo presenta un cambio de tonalidad inesperado a Re mayor, creando un momento de elevación emocional. Me encanta la canción, el riff de guitarra acústica, el ritmo sólido y sencillo de la batería, y el soporte del bajo. Esta pieza es de 1994 y tenía en esa época unos 10 años. Seguramente la recordarás en la película El nuevo Karate Kid (1994), y algunas series de la época.

When it comes to dreams, I believe in the ones I build while I'm awake. In the context of an ideal, a goal or aspiration, they have a deeper meaning. It is as if one lived in a desert and imagined an oasis. That would be your highest aspiration, a place where you can find sources of water and food. Now, many times those dreams can be mirages, and it is because we build goals without foundations. For a goal to be effective, there must be a written plan. Some dreams are built gradually, step by step. It is difficult to achieve virtuosity overnight, such as playing an instrument perfectly. If you do not have long, medium and short-term goals, and you develop a plan and also put it into execution, then that dream of achieving it dies before you start it.

Cuando se trata de sueños, creo en aquellos que construyo mientras estoy despierto. En el contexto de un ideal, de una meta o aspiración, tienen un significado más profundo. Es como si uno viviera en un desierto y se imaginara un oasis. Esa sería tu máxima aspiración, un lugar donde puedas encontrar fuentes de agua y alimento. Ahora, muchas veces esos sueños pueden ser espejismos, y es porque construimos metas sin cimientos. Para que una meta sea efectiva, debe haber un plan escrito. Algunos sueños se construyen gradualmente, paso a paso. De la noche a la mañana es difícil alcanzar el virtuosismo, como por ejemplo tocar un instrumento a la perfección. Si no tienes unas metas a largo, mediano y corto plazo, y elaboras un plan y además lo pones en ejecución, entonces ese sueño de lograrlo se muere antes de comenzarlo.
