Hello, Hive Food friends! This time I am pleased to show you a really delicious preparation that is finger-licking good. This is a very traditional Cream Punch at Christmas time. This one in particular is a version from the state of Merida, Venezuela, which has pumpkin among its ingredients. Stay to see the preparation.

¡Hola, amigos de Hive Food! En esta oportunidad me complace mostrarles una preparación realmente deliciosa que está para chuparse los dedos. Se trata de un Ponche Crema muy tradicional en la época navideña. Esta en particular es una versión del estado Mérida, Venezuela, que tiene entre sus ingredientes la auyama o calabaza. The ingredients we will need are / Los ingredientes que necesitaremos son:

1 Kilo of pumpkin / 1 Kilo de auyama o calabaza

1 can or carton of condensed milk / 1 lata o cartón de leche condensada

200 ml of rum / 200 ml de Ron

Vanilla essence to taste / Esencia de vainilla al gusto

Preparation / Preparacion:

Start by washing and cutting the pumpkin into medium size squares. Take into account that in this preparation this vegetable is a substitute for the egg, which is one of the ingredients used in the traditional cream punch.

Iniciamos lavando y cortando la auyama o calabaza en cuadros medianos. Tomemos en cuanta que en esta preparación este vegetal es sustituto del huevo, que es uno de los ingredientes que lleva el ponche crema tradicional.

Then place the pumpkin in a pot with water and bring to boil. We prick it with a fork until we notice that it is tender.

Luego colocamos la auyama en una olla con agua y llevamos a hervir. Vamos pinchando con un tenedor hasta que notemos que esté tierna.

Once the pumpkin has softened and is at room temperature, remove the peel.

Una vez la auyama haya ablandado y esté a temperatura ambiente pasamos a retirarle la cascara.

Then we blend all the ingredients. We start with the pumpkin, a touch of vanilla, condensed milk and rum until we get a creamy punch.

Posteriormente llevamos a licuar todos los ingredientes. Empezamos con la auyama o calabaza, un toque de vainilla, la leche condensada y el ron hasta lograr un ponche cremoso.

Finally we serve it with ice in a glass and enjoy this creamy delight that I know the whole family will love. The little ones can also drink it without the addition of liquor.

Finalmente lo servimos con hielo en una copa o vaso y disfrutamos de esta cremosa delicia que sé que le va a encantar a toda la familia. Los más pequeños también pueden tomarla sin el agregado de licor.

This cream punch would be a very nice detail and an excellent gift for a loved one this holiday season. I put part of the preparation in a nice bottle that I had recycled to give it as a present to a family member.

Este ponche crema sería un detalle muy bonito y un excelente regalo para un ser querido en esta época decembrina. Yo coloqué parte de la preparación en una linda botella que había reciclado para dársela como presente a un familiar.
