    First Concert

Hi there, my fellow musicians and music lovers!

If there's something that makes me feel proud about being Venezuelan, it's listening to our music in a concert. When it's performed by young musicians, it's proud doesn't make the cut. But, lo, if there's one if my instruments on stage, well, that fills with ecstasy.

Last Saturday, I had the chance to attend to the very first concert of Cuatristic Sound, a band of young talents from the city. The name isn't something I like. Too cheesy for my taste (although, when I remember there's a musical ensemble called Ensamble Gurrufío, those thoughts go away).

During their first performance, they suffered from a common misfortune of musicians, sound quality. The speakers played dirty if them. At one part of the concert, the bass stopped making sound. Despite their technical issues, they kept their spirits high and delivered a great show.

Their show consisted of two types of repertoire. The first one was music composed by Venezuelans in other genres like ballads and urban music. This was to highlight the versatility of the Venezuelan Cuatro. The second was a display of skill. They showed the remarks of a virtuoso. In this part, the pieces were all taken from the compositions of Traditional Venezuelan Music. We had some pieces of regional music and it ended in our second national anthem, Alma Llanera.

I hope to attend to more concerts and I hope they go to other cities and make some noise on social media.

I'd like to point out something relevant from this performance. The instrument that has better resonance through the microphone was the one made by me. That a displays of handcrafts and their function. It is an instrument made with the idea of higher compression of sound. Without a microphone, it might not have the sound that appeals to every taste. However, on stage and recording it is sure it will give you a really good performance.

I hope you enjoy this sample of their concert. I only included the second half of it due to copyright.
