Hello, Anime lovers! I’m pleased to be back in The Anime Realm community, a place dedicated to the wonderful art of Japanese animation. This time I bring not only a brief review of the remake of the legendary story of Rurouni Kenshin, but also a multi-instrumental cover of the ending of the first season of this series that currently airs every Friday.

¡Hola, amantes del Anime! Me complace estar nuevamente en la comunidad The Anime Realm, un lugar dedicado al maravilloso arte de la animación japonesa. En esta ocasión traigo no solo una breve reseña sobre el remake de la legendaria historia de Rurouni Kenshin o Samurái X en Latinoamérica, sino también un cover multi-instrumental del ending de la primera temporada de esta serie que se trasmite actualmente cada viernes.

About the remake I can tell you without spoilers that, Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (2023) is an adaptation of the series that was first released between 1996 and 1998, based on the manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki. This story of the Samurai and fantasy drama genre is set in the Meiji era during the Tokugawa dynasty. As a curious fact we can say that the series is inspired by a real samurai named Kawakami Gensai, considered one of the most skilled and lethal swordsmen of the Bakumatsu period.

The story is about Himura Kenshin, a very agile samurai who in his youth served the patriots of the restoration and was known as the hitokiri (assassin) Battosai. At the end of the troubled period, Kenshin decides to become an anonymous wanderer, who helps the underprivileged with the help of his katana that now has a reversed edge, with the purpose of not killing again, only defending people.

Sobre el remake les comento sin spoilers que, Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (2023), es una adaptación de la serie que salió a la luz por primera vez entre los años 1996 hasta 1998, basada en el manga de Nobuhiro Watsuki. Esta historia del género Samuráis y drama fantástico está ambientada en la era Meiji durante la dinastía Tokugawa. Como dato curioso podemos decir que la serie está inspirada en un samurái real llamado Kawakami Gensai, considerado unos de los espadachines más habilidosos y letales del periodo Bakumatsu.

La historia trata de Himura Kenshin, un samurái muy ágil que en su juventud prestó sus servicios a los patriotas de la restauración y que era conocido como el hitokiri (asesino) Battosai. Al terminar el periodo conflictivo, Kenshin decide convertirse en un vagabundo anónimo, que ayuda a los más desvalidos con la ayuda de su katana que ahora tiene el filo invertido, con el propósito de no volver a matar, solo defender a las personas.

I believe that Rurouni Kenshin deals with the theme of redemption, love and peace in an authentic way, which has earned it popularity among anime lovers. If you haven’t seen it, I invite you to give a chance to the remake of this great work of Japanese animation, because talking to some of those who saw the original version of the 90s, they tell me that the story is well developed, quite fluid and with greater subtlety. At this moment it’s on chapter 11 of the first season and it’s broadcasted every Friday on Crunchyroll among other anime websites.

En ese camino el destino lo lleva a conocer a la maestra de kendo Kaoru Kamiya, al luchador callejero y un poco alocado Sanosuke Sagara, al joven vagabundo Yahiko Myojin, entre otros personajes con quienes emprende aventura tras aventura, mientas se enfrenta a personas de su pasado y también del presente que buscan causarles problemas.

Considero que Samurái X trata el tema de la redención, al amor y la paz de una forma auténtica, lo que le ha ganado su popularidad entre los amantes del anime. Si no la han visto los invito a darle una oportunidad al remake de esta gran obra de la animación japonesa, pues conversando con algunos quienes vieron la versión original de los 90s me comentan que la historia está bien desarrollada, de manera bastante fluida y con mayor sutileza. En este momento va por el capítulo 11 de la primera temporada y es emitida cada viernes por Crunchyroll entre otras webs dedicadas al anime.

As for the cover song that I bring you, I can tell you that it’s the song Edge, composed and performed by the J-pop singer-songwriter REOL. In this case I used the app. Moises to extract the drums and bass, in order to add these two instruments played in my style and also add a guitar to add more rhythm. The track has the original vocals and keyboard effects. Here is the official link to the ending.

En cuanto al cover musical que les traigo les puedo decir que se trata de la canción Edge, compuesta e interpretada por la cantautora de J-pop REOL. En este caso utilicé la app. Moises para extraer la batería y bajo, de modo de agregar estos dos instrumentos tocados a mi estilo y asimismo agregarle una guitarra para aportar más rítmica.
