Hive Open Mic Semana #180 "Disney" || Recuerdame por @juanpth

I confess that, since I was a child, I have seen almost all the movies that Disney brings for us and I continue to watch their movies in the company of my two children, Lorelei and Juan Andres. The theme I bring you this week was not entirely my choice because, when I was thinking and reviewing which song I would share with you this week, my children began to recommend me their favorite songs as good fans of Disney movies and songs, then they made the suggestion of the song I should sing. That's how I found the song that I will perform this week and it is the song "Remember Me", from the movie Coco.

Of course we went through other possible songs before, from the song Under the Sea sung by the crab from The Little Mermaid, to I See the Light in You from the movie Tangled, the latter being a duet, until we chose this song, Remember Me from the movie Coco, with the proposal that I would sing it with my daughter Lorelei.
The selection was made, according to the children's logic, because it was about a girl and her father who plays the guitar just like me, so I had to sing and play the guitar. From the first day the rehearsals began, to learn this song. Of course Lorelei already knew it by heart, and she called my attention every time I made a mistake or changed a word in the original text (it happens to me often when I sing :D).
To tell you a little about the movie, it is a nice story of a young man, Miguel, musician and guitarist, who dreams of becoming a famous singer, a profession forbidden in the family (his great-great-grandfather who was a musician "abandoned" them). The profession allowed in the family is shoemaker. He disaffected his grandmother, and enters a contest of with and by playing his grandfather's guitar he moves to the world of the dead, from there he will only be able to leave if a relative, deceased, gives him his blessing. There he will stop for a lot of adventure that will lead him to discover the truth about his great-great-grandfather that allow him to return to the world of the living, to return to Coco and help her remember, with this song, "Remember Me", his dad and shows the whole family that he was the composer of beautiful songs, for which he would now be remembered.
I know that was a very compressed summary, but I prefer to leave room for those who want to see the movie and can enjoy it without having all the details.
Now, I think that one of the messages of the film has to do with the prejudices that families have about what their children should study, without looking at their vocation (it happened to me). It is believed that some professions have less merit than others and that is why young people, undecided, are pushed to opt for careers that are not compatible with them and in which, perhaps, they will not be able to grow. I remember a friend of mine who was forced by her family to study medicine. It turned out that in a practical class she was exposed to some chemicals to which she was allergic and this caused irreversible damage to her skin, forcing her to withdraw from the career. In my case, since I was a child I liked to sing, and I said I would be a singer; I had to start a career in administration, and much later I was able to pursue a career in music, although my family was against it, claiming that this career should be seen only as a hobby, but I persevered and I graduated as a Bachelor of Music. But I know I was not the only one, I know many similar stories.
The song, "Remember Me", was composed by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and won an Oscar for Best Original Song.

¡Hola amigos y amigas de la comunidad Hive Open Mic! En su semana #180. Esta semana tiene como tema “Disney”.

Confieso que, desde niño, he visto casi todas las películas que Disney trae para nosotros y continúo viendo sus películas en compañía de mis dos hijos, Lorelei y Juan Andrés. El tema que les traigo esta semana no fue del todo mi elección ya que, cuando me encontraba pensando y revisando cual canción compartiría con ustedes esta semana, llegaron mis niños comenzaron a recomendarme sus canciones favoritas como buenos fanes de las películas y las canciones de Disney, entonces realizaron la sugerencia de la canción que yo debía cantar. Es así como encontré el tema que interpretaré esta semana y se trata la canción “Recuérdame”, de la película Coco.

Claro que pasamos por otros posibles temas antes, desde la canción Bajo el mar que canta el cangrejo de la Sirenita, pasando por Veo en ti la luz de la película Enredados, esta última se trata de un dúo, hasta que escogimos esta canción, Recuérdame de la película Coco, con la propuesta de que la cantaría con mi hija Lorelei.
La selección se dio, según la lógica de los niños, porque se trataba de una niña y su papá que toca la guitarra igual que yo, por eso debía cantar y tocar la guitarra. Desde el primer día comenzaron los ensayos, para aprender esta canción. Claro que Lorelei ya se la sabía de memoria, y me llamaba la atención cada vez que me equivocaba, o que cambiaba alguna palabra en el texto original (me pasa con frecuencia cuando canto :D).
Para contarles un poco la película, se trata de una linda historia de un joven, Miguel, músico y guitarrista, que sueña convertirse en un famoso cantante, profesión prohibida en la familia (su tatarabuelo que era músico los “abandonó”). La profesión que se permite en la familia es zapatero. Desafinado a su abuela, y entra en un concurso de con y al tocar la guitarra de su abuelo se traslada al mundo de los muertos, de allí solo podrá salir si un familiar, difunto, le da su bendición. Allí parará por un montón de aventura que lo llevará a descubrir la verdad sobre su tatarabuelo que le permiten regresar al mundo de los vivos, para volver con Coco y ayudarla a recordar, con esta canción, “Recuérdame”, a su papá y le muestra a toda la familia que era el compositor de hermosas canciones, por lo que ahora sería recordado.
Se que fue un resumen muy comprimido, pero prefiero dejar espacio para aquellos que quieran ver la película y puedan disfrutarla sin tener todos los detalles.
Ahora bien, creo que uno de los mensajes de la película tiene que ver con los prejuicios que tienen las familias por lo que deben estudiar sus hijos, sin mirar la vocación, (a mí me pasó). Se cree que algunas profesiones tienen menos méritos que otras y por eso se empuja a los jóvenes, indecisos, a optar por carreras que no les son compatibles y en las que, tal vez, no podrán crecer. Recuerdo una amiga que, su familia, le obligaron a estudiar medicina. Resultó que en una clase práctica se expuso a unos químicos a los que era alérgica y esto le produjo un daño irreversible en su piel, obligándola a retirarse de la carrera. En mi caso, que desde niño me gustaba cantar, y decía que sería cantante; me toco iniciar carrera en administración, y mucho después fue que pude hacer carrera en música, aunque mi familia toda estaba en contra, alegando que esa carrera debía verla solo como un pasatiempo, pero perseveré y me gradué como Licenciado en Música. Pero se que no he sido el único, conozco muchas historias similares.

La canción, “Recuérdame”, en inglés “Remember Me”, fue compuesta por Robert López y Kristen Anderson-López, y fue galardonada con premio Óscar a la mejor canción Original.
