Apollo is one of my favorite gods, son of Leto and Zeus, twin brother of Artemis. His origin is somewhat confusing because in Mycenaean times no one spoke of Apollo, then came centuries of a kind of obscurantism of which we know little, and already for the archaic Greece everyone knew Apollo, that is, at some point in that period in which we do not know much the cult of this god arose.

Apollo on the one hand is the god of the arts, music, livestock, sports, but on the other hand he has a somewhat dark side since his name seems to mean the one who kills from afar, since he apparently threw poisoned arrows, he was also the god of plagues. His character and his role in the history of Greece is quite important and perhaps he is not the most popular god but he was a god with great importance, in the accounts of the Trojan War he has great importance.

He was also closely related to medicine, he was the father of Asclepius, and this was the father of Hippocrates, yes, that same Hippocrates to whom doctors make their oath.

I hope you enjoyed this podcast episode, see you in a future edition of Acción Estoica.
