HIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL Week 13 First Round (ENG-ESP): "God Cries in Thunder!" (Original)

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa! Welcome to Week 13 / Round 1 of the Hive Music Festival! I have only done original songs so far for the Hive Music Festival:

• In weeks 1 to 3 I did some of my softer, more finger-picking, style of original songs.
• In weeks 4-6 I raised the tempo a bit and started strumming on some more original songs.
• In weeks 7-9, I picked some original songs that would allow me to rock out as hard as my acoustic guitar allows, and I also showed how I like to play alternative tunings like “DADGAD”.
• In weeks 10-12 I introduced a loop pedal device to allow me to fill out some of my original songs…

From now on, let me just play whatever original song I feel like on the day, hey?

I was thinking about my friend @itzchemaya from Venezuela. I haven’t seen a post from her for about a month, and I am wondering if she is okay? She always encouraged me to sing jazz or the blues (her favourite genres to sing), so I thought I would try and call her back onto HIVE with an original song of mine with some jazzy verses (interesting chords like E-maj7 and E-add9-more-or-less!) that then transitions to a simpler bluesy chorus!

Today’s original song is called “God Cries in Thunder”. It is an Anti-War Protest song that explains that God is sad and angry that we cannot seem to learn from history and stop fighting each other through our fear and hatred. This is usually a song I sing with @clairemobey as a collaborative duo, because she adds power and harmony to the chorus to make it more rousing!

I do a few blues riffs to prove that the chorus is bluesy somewhere in the middle of the song. To do this, I use the pink pedal to record the verse chord structure quickly and play it back repetitively. The black pedal then adds some electric guitar style distortion to the riffs.

Hola a todos en HIVE, y especialmente a la comunidad musical. ¡Mi nombre es Jasper y les escribo (y canto) desde Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica! ¡Bienvenidos a la Semana 13 / Ronda 1 del Hive Music Festival! Hasta ahora solo he hecho canciones originales para el Hive Music Festival:

• En las semanas 1 a 3 hice algunas de mis canciones originales con un estilo más suave y punteado.
• En las semanas 4-6 subí un poco el tempo y comencé a rasguear algunas canciones más originales.
• En las semanas 7-9, escogí algunas canciones originales que me permitirían rockear tan fuerte como lo permite mi guitarra acústica, y también mostré cómo me gusta tocar afinaciones alternativas como “DADGAD”.
• En las semanas 10-12 introduje un dispositivo de pedal de bucle que me permitía completar algunas de mis canciones originales...

De ahora en adelante, déjame tocar cualquier canción original que me apetezca ese día, ¿eh?

Estaba pensando en mi amigo @itzchemaya de Venezuela. No he visto una publicación de ella durante aproximadamente un mes, y me pregunto si está bien. Ella siempre me animó a cantar jazz o blues (sus géneros favoritos para cantar), así que pensé en intentar llamarla de nuevo a HIVE con una canción original mía con algunos versos de jazz (acordes interesantes como E-maj7 y E- add9-more-or-less!) que luego pasa a un coro de blues más simple.

La canción original de hoy se llama “God Cries in Thunder”. Es una canción de protesta contra la guerra que explica que Dios está triste y enojado porque parece que no podemos aprender de la historia y dejar de luchar entre nosotros a través de nuestro miedo y odio. Por lo general, esta es una canción que canto con @clairemobey como un dúo colaborativo, ¡porque ella agrega poder y armonía al coro para hacerlo más emocionante!

Hago algunos riffs de blues para probar que el estribillo es blues en algún lugar en el medio de la canción. Para hacer esto, uso el pedal rosa para grabar la estructura de acordes del verso rápidamente y reproducirla de forma repetitiva. El pedal negro luego agrega algo de distorsión al estilo de la guitarra eléctrica a los riffs.
