Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

I am into the 23rd week of this challenging series of posts I have set myself for Thursdays! BUT I need your help to keep going please!

This is the challenge I'm setting myself every Thursday: I ask for cover song requests on the MUSIC community (make a comment on this post to take part by suggesting a song for me to try), and then I pick a favourite song to learn and post a live video of me attempting it. The person who asked for the winning song then gets 50% of the post rewards in HP! (If I pick a second song, that person gets 20% of the post rewards in HP as well!) It's as simple as that! (Well for everyone but me who then has to learn to sing and play new songs every week! Haha!)

Again, I got some a couple of awesome requests this week! Yay! Please give me more!!

Winning first place is @leomolina from Venezuela! He is a guitarist that shares a lot of rock music on Hive himself, and he asked for “Santeria” by Sublime. I have heard about the band Sublime and their cult following, especially among rock musicians, for their brand of “punk-ska” music. Apparently, the lead singer passed away just as they were hitting the big time… the video for Santeria makes reference to this, but is also an entertaining video with a Western theme which is super fun!

Let’s have this week be one of the weeks that I am brave enough to learn a second song on the fly! @jesus-son has been very supportive of me in recent weeks. He is from Nigeria and plays violin and keyboard himself! He asked for the very famous theme from the Titanic movie: “My Heart will Go On” by Celine Dion. Here is the original:

Here’s a bit of insight into what kind of person I am: When I am surfing and the waves are very small, sometimes I just stick my arms out in “Titanic” pose and sing this song while riding the wave because it is too small to do much else… other surfers look at me a bit funny but “the best surfer is the one having the most fun”!
