Unquestionably the music of Alejandro Sanz is for me and for many musicians a delicacy of Gods, it is a delicacy for our ears, since the beginning of his career he has given us music of an incredible level, with lyrics and poems that leave you without words.

I have been recording this video for a few years in my room, what I wanted to show at that time, I want to share with you, it is quite true that when bassists understand it I think it is because we have already begun to mature musically and understand that each thing has its time within a song or an arrangement and that much depends on the genre.

Originally the bass lines of this song were recorded with a bassist that I mentioned in previous posts, Mr Nathan East, one of the most complete session bassists in the world, recognized for his immense taste and extensive knowledge, in addition to having worked with many and for many world elite artists (Daft punk, Shakira, Ringo Starr, Phil Collins, Laura Pausini and Celine Dion, to name just a few)

The truth is that listening to many albums in which he has participated as a bassist, I realized several years ago that each song has its place and sensitive moments where you must understand whether to be daring or better to continue with the groove.

The work of the electric bass within popular music and even jazz, is simply accompaniment, that is why a solid work must be done as a basis that is the one who will sustain the rhythmic and harmonic aspect that the band carries, but we must accept that from time to time releasing a fills will cause an impact on the listener and it is also necessary, the problem is when we abuse this resource, the essence of the base is lost and it no longer causes an impact on the listener.

Suppose the base (Groove) is a 4-legged table when it is quite solid, what happens if we start to drop fills along the subject? Well, the table is going to wobble and it is going to cause a lot of instability among the musicians and in the song as such, that is why I consider that it is an aspect of maturity, knowing and having criteria and reaching an agreement with the rest of the band. you can release your hand at a certain point in the song.

This is a very personal thought, but it has worked for me both live and in session, for me it is a beginning, first groove, then groove, and strengthen the criteria to understand when to release.

Indiscutiblemente la música de Alejandro Sanz es para mi y para muchos músicos un manjar de Dioses, es todo una exquisitez para nuestros oído, desde los inicios de su carrera nos ha regalado música de un nivel increíble, con unas letras y poemas que te dejan sin palabras.

Hace algunos años que grabe este video en mi habitación, lo que que quise mostrar en ese entonces, lo quiero compartir con ustedes, es algo bastante cierto que cuando los bajistas lo comprendemos creo que es porque ya hemos comenzado a madurar musicalmente y a entender que cada cosa tiene su tiempo dentro de una canción o un arreglo y que mucho depende del género.

Originalmente las líneas de bajo de esta canción fueron grabadas con un bajista que mencioné en post anteriores, Mr Nathan East, unos de los bajistas de session más completos del mundo, reconocido por su inmenso gusto y amplio conocimiento, además de haber trabajado con muchos y para muchos artistas de la élite mundial( Daft punk, Shakira, Ringo Starr, Phil Collins, Laura Pausini y Celine Dion, por mencionar solo algunos)

La verdad que escuchar muchos disco en los que el ha participado como bajista me di cuenta hace varios años que cada canción tiene su lugar y momentos sensibles donde debes entender si ser osado o mejor continuar con el groove.

El trabajo del bajo eléctrico dentro de la música popular e inclusive el jazz, es simplemente acompañamiento, por eso se debe hacer un trabajo sólido como base que es quien va a sustentar el aspecto rítmico y armónico que lleva la banda, pero hay que aceptar que de vez en cuando soltar un fills va a causar impacto en el oyente y también es necesario, el problema está en cuando abusamos de este recurso, se pierde la esencia de la base y ya no causa impacto en el oyente.

Supongamos que la base(Groove) es una mesa de 4 patas cuando es bastante sólido, que pasa si comenzamos a soltar fills a lo largo del tema? Pues la mesa se va a tambalearse y va a causar mucha inestabilidad entre los músicos y en la canción como tal, por eso considero que es un aspecto de madurez, conocer y tener criterio y llegar a un acuerdo con el resto de la banda de quien puede soltar la mano en determinado momento de la canción.

Esto es un pensar bastante personal, pero a mi me ha funcionado tanto en vivo como en session, para mi es un principio, primero groove, luego groove, y fortalecer el criterio para entender cuando soltar.
