HIVE OPEN MIC #177 (ENG/ESP): Praise - "The Good Ones" by Gabby Barrett

Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to Week 177 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is the beautiful theme of “Praise”!

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. In summary, I figured that most religious/spiritual people would choose a song that praises the Lord/Higher Power – something like “Amazing Grace”. The example I gave was a Van Morrison duet with Cliff Richard called “Whenever God Shines his Light on Me”.

Another idea I had was songs that praise a country or place. The obvious example here was “Take Me Home Country Roads” by John Denver, because it clearly praising the beauty of the mountain countryside of West Virginia!

Finally, and the approach I’m going to use today, you could interpret the theme to choose a song that praises a person, especially your significant other. Gabby Barrett does just that when she sings about her partner as “one of the Good Ones” in her popular song from a few years ago called “The Good Ones”. I have been asked to sing at a Wedding this weekend, and the groom has asked me to include this song, but with the roles reversed (Man praising the lady in his life), so let me practice it like that in my recording, but I will share the original lyrics below!

Bienvenido a la semana 177 del desafío Hive Open Mic. ¡El tema de esta semana es el hermoso tema de “Alabanza”!

En resumen, pensé que la mayoría de las personas religiosas/espirituales elegirían una canción que alabara al Señor/Poder Superior, algo así como “Amazing Grace”. El ejemplo que di fue un dueto de Van Morrison con Cliff Richard llamado "Siempre que Dios brille su luz sobre mí".

Otra idea que tuve fueron canciones que elogien a un país o lugar. El ejemplo obvio aquí fue “Take Me Home Country Roads” de John Denver, ¡porque claramente elogia la belleza de la campiña montañosa de Virginia Occidental!

Finalmente, y el enfoque que voy a utilizar hoy, podrías interpretar el tema para elegir una canción que elogie a una persona, especialmente a tu pareja. Gabby Barrett hace precisamente eso cuando canta sobre su pareja como “uno de los buenos” en su popular canción de hace unos años llamada “The Good Ones”. Me han pedido que cante en una boda este fin de semana, y el novio me ha pedido que incluya esta canción, pero con los roles invertidos (Hombre alabando a la dama en su vida), así que déjenme practicarla así en mi grabación, pero ¡Compartiré la letra original a continuación!
