We keep on the Christmas theme for this entries on the Hive Music Festival. For this 62nd week, round 2, I bring you one of the most famous Christmas songs of Venezuela, "El Burrito Sabanero". This one is so popular it's even been translated to English and has been played over all the world. A few weeks ago, I saw a video of an Orchestra in Madrid playing an arrangement of this songs alongside a children's choir. It was amazing!
Composed by Hugo Blanco in 1972, this songs makes reference to La Gran Sabana. This is a National Park located in the south of the country. Its jolly melody makes reference to the merry way to Bethlehem to find Christ. One can only tell by the simplicity of the whole song why it became a hit. It's catchy and I don't a single person who listens to it and doesn't hum to the tune.
Contrary to other songs of the genre, this aguinaldo follows a different rhythmic pattern. It goes on the Orquidea rhythm, an adaptation of Cuban Son made for Venezuelan Music by Hugo Blanco. As you may know, he was also the composer of "Moliendo Café", another very famous song. Without further a due, here you have my soloist version.
