Hello there, my fellow musicians and music lovers!

There are some pieces by Aldemaro Romero that can be changed from their original versions into Onda Nueva. Take for examples this one, "Poco a Poco". The original composition is a waltz. However, the syncopation and other attributes in the melody make it easier to arrange into the Onda Nueva rhythm.

This is possible because both genres have the same basic rhythmic pattern in quarter notes. Waltzes are generally written in 3/4 measures. Onda Nueva is also written in 3/4 most of the time to make it easier to understand, but the actual time measure for this genre is 5/4. And you can listen to this compound rhythm when you listen to anything that is in the genre. It works a a sum of two bars, one in 3/4 and another in 2/4. Just like most compound rhythms work in music.

And that what gives the genre this sense feeling that makes it get out of traditional composition into more modern forms of music. The waltz version is beautiful. It has a some really sad lyrics that could make you break into tears. But the Onda Nueva arrangement makes for better solos.

No more from me, let the cover take it from here.

    I hope you like it!
