After analyzing the theme of last week's convocation and seeing this week's, I thought I understood that they were trying to refer to the light provided by beliefs, the light offered by faith, that is, religion. Although this is just a guess, I tried to think of a song that had some relation to the theme.

One of the greatest Cuban musicians and composers, one of those who contributed the most to the development of son and, therefore, to salsa, is Miguel Matamoros, who is the author of countless songs, with all kinds of themes. As a reliable representative of the feelings of his people, Miguel Matamoros also knew how to capture the faith of the Cuban people for who is the patron saint of the island, the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre (Our Lady of Charity).

This song also became very popular in Venezuela, in interpretation of the orchestra Los Melódicos. I was undecided between recording with the accompaniment of that orchestra or the Trio Matamoros, which as you can deduce from the name, was the composer's group. However, I ended up opting for the cuatro accompaniment, among other reasons because I didn't have enough time to make the video today and be able to make my contribution to this week's Hive Open Mic, which is now in its 149th week.

Después de analizar el tema de la convocatoria, la semana pasada y ver el de esta semana, me pareció entender que en el fondo buscaban referirse a la luz que brindan las creencias, la luz que ofrece la fe, es decir, la religión. Aunque solo se trata de una suposición, traté de pensar en alguna canción que tuviera relación con el tema.

Uno de los más grandes músicos y compositores cubanos, uno de los que más aportó al desarrollo del son y, por tanto, a la salsa, es Miguel Matamoros, quien es autor de innumerables canciones, con todo tipo de tema. Como un representante fidedigno de los sentimientos de su pueblo, Miguel Matamoros también supo captar la fe del pueblo cubano por quien es la patrona de la isla, la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre.

Esta canción también se hizo muy popular en Venezuela, en interpretación de la orquesta Los Melódicos. Estaba indeciso entre grabar con el acompañamiento de esa orquesta o del Trío Matamoros, que como podrán deducir del nombre, era la agrupación del compositor. Sin embargo, terminé decantándome por el acompañamiento del cuatro, entre otras razones por que ya no me alcanzaba el tiempo para poder hacer el video hoy y poder hacer mi aporte al Hive Open Mic de esta semana, que ya llega a su semana 149.
