Welcome to my music blog. Today, I share with you my trumpet interpretation of “This Masquerade”, a slow tempo ballad that talks about two people who are in love, and who pretend to be just friends. This piece of music was composed by the American singer and musician Leon Russell. I've had the chance to hear this song in movies like The Exorcist, The Pursuit of Happyness, and The Bodyguard. The song is in the key of E Major. The melody is based on a descending scale starting on the note E and ending on the note C#. It has a 4/4 time signature and a rhythm that makes the song emotionally powerful. This generates a feeling of intimacy, vulnerability, energy and emotion. Harmony is relatively simple. However, the use of secondary dominant chords and chromaticism helps create a sense of tension and suspense, which builds up to the release of the chorus.
Bienvenidos a mi blog musical.
As I shared with you a few days ago, I changed the trumpet mouthpiece. Adjusting can be a big challenge. The more you practice, your adaptation process speeds up. It has not been an easy task to understand myself with the low notes and to control some high notes. It often happens to me that I try to play a high note, and I get another one that I didn't expect, even a higher one. In this process of adapting, it is necessary to be patient and not get discouraged. This is like starting to crawl when you used to walk naturally before. The experience has been wonderful and a great learning experience. This applies to life, there are planned changes and others that come by surprise and unexpectedly. In planned changes we are in control of our decisions. The important thing is not to give up on the things we have planned. In the end the net result is what matters most.
Are we really happy here with this lonely game we play?
Looking for words to say
Searching but not finding understanding anywhere
We're lost in a masquerade
Both afraid to say we're just too far away
From being close together from the start
We tried to talk it over but the words got in the way
We're lost inside this lonely game we play
Thoughts of leaving disappear every time I see your eyes
No matter how hard I try
To understand the reasons why we carry on this way
We're lost in a masquerade
Both afraid to say we're just to far away
From being close together from the start
We tried to talk it over but the words got in the way
We're lost inside this lonely game we play
Thoughts of leaving disappear every time I see your eyes
No matter how hard I try
To understand the reasons why we carry on this way
We're lost in a masquerade
Wohoho, in a masquerade
