Hive Open Mic Week #158 | No importa la distancia - Alan Menken (Cover) by @yisusth [ENG/SPA]

Bienvenidos a mi blog musical, hoy me siento contento de participar en el Hive Open Mic Semana 158, con la temática propuesta por el amigo @karlex77 “Derrotemos a la Distancia”. Apenas vi que se trataba, me vino a la mente una canción titulada «No importa la distancia», compuesta por Alan Menken. Esta Pieza musical es parte de la banda sonora de la película animada de Disney Hércules. Mis versiones favoritas son parte de los créditos, en inglés es realizada por Michael Bolton y en español por Ricky Martin. La letra está muy relacionada con el guion de la película, y es que plantea ese deseo por lograr las metas y llegar hasta el final. Y es que, a la hora de plantearse metas, uno debe esforzarse por derrotar la distancia, al ser constante y tener su objetivo siempre en la mira. La meta para Héroe de la Mitología Griega era el Olimpo y volver a reencontrarse con su Zeus, su Padre. Pienso que esto guarda mucho paralelismo con el deseo de los hijos de Dios, de volver a la Presencia de su Padre Celestial. La practiqué para cantarla esta semana y me resulto complicada, al final me decidí por tocarla con la trompeta.

Welcome to my music blog, today I am happy to participate in the Hive Open Mic Week 158, with the theme proposed by my friend @karlex77 “Let's defeat the Distance”. As soon as I saw what it was about, a song called “Go The Distance”, composed by Alan Menken, came to mind. This piece of music is part of the soundtrack of the Disney animated film Hercules. My favorite versions are part of the credits, in English it is done by Michael Bolton and in Spanish by Ricky Martin. The lyrics are closely related to the script of the film, and it is that it raises that desire to achieve the goals and go to the end. And it is that, when setting goals, one must strive to defeat the distance, by being constant and always having their goal in sight. The goal for the Hero of Greek Mythology was Olympus and to meet again with his Zeus, his Father. I think this has a lot of parallels with the desire of the children of God, to return to the Presence of their Heavenly Father. I practiced it to sing it this week and it turned out to be complicated, in the end, I decided to play it with the trumpet.

Esta temática la asocié con dos aspectos, el primero es la distancia que puede existir entre las personas. Muchos de nosotros, me incluyo. Tiene amigos y familiares que se han ido lejos. Existe una nostalgia grande tanto para el que se quedó como para el que se fue. Y es que estar tan lejos, en una cultura y clima diferente, puede afligir a cualquiera. Para derrotar la distancia, la música puede ser un bálsamo en esos tiempos de dificultad. Nos acerca a nuestras raíces y a quienes somos. Por otra parte, gracias a la tecnología podemos estar más cerca. Pienso muchas veces en nuestros antepasados que estuvieron en la Guerra, y enviaban cartas a sus seres queridos. Era una manera de acortar y derrotar la distancia.

I associated this theme with two aspects, the first is the distance that can exist between people. Many of us, myself included. You have friends and family who have moved away. There is a great nostalgia for both the one who stayed and the one who left. And it is that being so far away, in a different culture and climate, can afflict anyone. To defeat the distance, music can be a balm in those difficult times. It brings us closer to our roots and who we are. On the other hand, thanks to technology we can be closer. I think many times about our ancestors who were in the War, and sent letters to their loved ones. It was a way to shorten and defeat the distance.

Por último, lo relacioné con el logro de nuestras metas. Hace poco recibí un recordatorio de la Universidad, sobre trabajar con Metas Inteligentes (Smart Goals). Una de las maneras de derrotar la distancia para el logro de nuestras metas es tener un objetivo específico, tomar nota y colocarlo en un lugar visible para no olvidarlo. También debemos hacer seguimiento, y evaluar nuestro progreso. También uno debe ser realista, y reconocer si puedes alcanzarlo o no. Otra cosa es estar seguros de que sea relevante y de importancia significativa. Y es que a veces comenzamos un proyecto, y nos damos cuenta en el camino de que no era significativo, o trascendente. Hay que considerar el tiempo, todo debe tener un final donde uno pueda evaluar o reevaluar lo que ha logrado. Yo he podido derrotar esas distancias por experiencia, y estoy seguro de que cualquiera que siga esa fórmula puede lograrlo.

Finally, I related it to the achievement of our goals. I recently received a reminder from the University about working with Smart Goals. One of the ways to defeat the distance for the achievement of our goals is to have a specific objective, take note of it and place it in a visible place so as not to forget it. We must also follow up and evaluate our progress. Also one must be realistic, and recognize if you can achieve it or not. Another thing is to be sure that it is relevant and of significant importance. And it is that sometimes we start a project, and we realize along the way that it was not significant, or transcendent. You have to consider time, everything must have an end where you can evaluate or re-evaluate what you have achieved. I have been able to beat those distances from experience, and I am sure that anyone who follows that formula can do it.
