Underworld Office: el videojuego que te lleva a la sombra del inframundo – Jugabilidad [ESP-ENG]

Si alguna vez has leído las historias interactivas, esas donde los chats o los mensajes de texto toman protagonismo, entonces te familiarizarás muy rápido con Underworld Office. Este es uno de los videojuegos más peculiares con los que me he topado, en primera instancia porque todo se basa en la toma de decisiones, y en segunda instancia porque parece un libro digital viviente. Tu misión es entender la vida de Eugene a través de los fantasmas, y ayudarlo a superar su crisis existencial.

El videojuego tiene cinemáticas que ayudan al jugador a entender el entorno. Todo transcurre en un chat parecido a de tu teléfono, con diálogos que van deshilando la historia como un buen libro de misterio y aventura. El tema de fondo aborda el universo del purgatorio, de la luz y las sombras, y del desconocido mundo espiritual. Es así como Eugene, nuestro protagonista, deberá comprender lo que significa la vida a través de la muerte.

If you have ever read interactive stories, those where chats or text messages take center stage, you will quickly become familiar with Underworld Office. This is one of the most peculiar video games I've come across, firstly because it's all about decision-making, and secondly, because it feels like a living digital book. Your mission is to understand Eugene's life through the ghosts and help him overcome his existential crisis.

The video game has cinematics that help the player understand the environment. Everything takes place in a chat similar to your phone, with dialogues that unravel the story like a good mystery and adventure book. The background theme deals with the universe of purgatory, light and shadows, and the unknown spiritual world. This is how Eugene, our protagonist, will have to understand what life means through death.

La historia está dividida en capítulos. En el primer fragmento de esta aventura, Eugene confrontará a sus demonios y no necesariamente a los mentales. La dinámica es bastante sencilla: solo debes saber qué decir. Cada vez que elijas una alternativa de interacción en el chat, se te descontarán cinco boletos. Los boletos te permiten interactuar; al principio estos no se te descuentan. Luego del primer capítulo puedes recargarlos viendo algún anuncio. Esto es lo más molesto, pero está bien para ser un videojuego gratuito.

El estilo de Underworld Office me recuerda un poco a los libros de Wattpad donde todo transcurre por chats y esas cosas. Al principio nuestra participación se limita a algunos diálogos, pero con el pasar de los capítulos la interacción aumenta. Como todo videojuego de toma de decisiones, podemos afectar el desenlace final de la historia. Debes ser muy intuitivo: algunas de tus elecciones, por lógica, deben conectar con el principio del argumento. Aunque ya dependerá de tu propia percepción.

The story is divided into chapters. In the first fragment of this adventure, Eugene will confront his demons and not necessarily his mental ones. The dynamics are quite simple: you just have to know what to say. Every time you choose an interaction alternative in the chat, five tickets will be deducted. The tickets allow you to interact; at the beginning, they are not deducted. After the first chapter, you can recharge them by watching an advertisement. This is the most annoying thing, but it's fine for a free video game.

The style of Underworld Office reminds me a bit of Wattpad books where everything takes place through chats and stuff. At the beginning our participation is limited to some dialogues, but as the chapters go by the interaction increases. Like any video game of decision-making, we can affect the outcome of the story. You must be very intuitive: some of your choices, by logic, must connect with the beginning of the plot. Although it will depend on your perception.

Otras configuraciones permiten modificar el lenguaje de los diálogos, además de ajustar algunas características del videojuego. Cada capítulo contiene un número especial de imágenes y cinemáticas, cuando las desbloquees, estas irán a tu galería. El estilo gráfico de Underworld Office es muy bonito y eleva las ganas de coleccionar estos momentos. Además, puedes conocer a los personajes en un apartado especial… solo diré que la mayoría son fantasmas.

En el primer capítulo se nos da un bosquejo de lo que representan estos fantasmas. De alguna manera, el universo de este título es muy rico; al ser un videojuego de historia interactiva, lo que más resalta es la esencia guionada. Me encanta… esto lo hace más interesante y en algún punto, terrorífico XD.

Other settings allow you to modify the language of the dialogs, as well as adjust some features of the game. Each chapter contains a special number of images and cinematics, when you unlock them, they will go to your gallery. The graphic style of Underworld Office is very nice and makes you want to collect these moments. Also, you can meet the characters in a special section... I'll just say that most of them are ghosts.

In the first chapter we are given a sketch of what these ghosts represent. Somehow, the universe of this title is very rich; being an interactive story video game, what stands out the most is the scripted essence. I love it... this makes it more interesting and at some point, terrifying XD.

En el gameplay adjunto el primer capítulo de Underworld Office, con el abreboca de la historia de Eugene. Es curioso como diseñaron a un personaje depresivo que aprenderá a vivir muriendo… ¿Extraño no? Aunque creo que ya lo he visto antes en algunas películas.
