El curruchá – Juan Bautista Plaza. (cover mandolina) [ESP-ENG]

     !Hola, comunidad de HIVE! Espero todos se encuentren bien, ya estoy en mi casa y me puse a grabar algo para ustedes.

     El curruchá es un tema emblemático y que francamente me encanta; mi mamá fue quien me lo mostró por primera vez porque yo apenas estaba comenzando en mi instrumento y esa era una canción bastante importante que debía conocer; hace poco revisé mis partituras, las estaba ordenando, cuando me encontré con este tema y decidí grabarlo. Grabé la mandolina sobre un cuatro que también hice yo.

     El tema para mí es nostálgico, de hecho, después de grabarlo y editarlo me puse escuchar versiones hasta que encontré la hermosa versión que me fascinó cuando estaba pequeño, la de Jesús Sevillano, él es un médico y músico venezolano muy conocido que ha grabado muchos temas que, en su voz, se han vuelto populares, como lo son Alfonsina y el mar, como llora una estrella, las brumas del mar, apure en un viaje, la flor de la canela, sobra en los médanos, el curruchá, entre otros. De hecho, hace relativamente poco tiempo grabaron un “concierto de lujo”, llamado así un programa de música en donde normalmente presentan un artista emblemático venezolano acompañado de una orquesta sinfónica.

     Es increíble el valor que adquieren las cosas con el tiempo, este, contrario a los anteriores videos que he subido últimamente, no fue un tema complejo o difícil, es más, lo grabé a la primera toma, sin repetir, pero lo que lo hace importante es lo que me recuerda, me hace pensar en mi mamá que irónicamente a ella la hace pensar en mi abuelo, esa era la música que le ponían a ella y por consiguiente a mí, sólo que con el pasar del tiempo queda eso marcado en la personalidad de cada uno. En mí Jesús Sevillano dejó una huella grande porque su música me ha acompañado siempre, próximamente grabaré el tema favorito de mi mamá que es “Como llora una estrella” y la primera versión que escuché fue la de Sevillano… El valor sentimentalmente se lo da uno pero nuestros seres amados tienen un papel demasiado importante en toda nuestra formación y crecimiento. Yo no provengo de una familia de músicos, soy el primero, pero la cultura que me ha inculcado mi mamá, en parte, es lo que me ha hecho crecer. Así que le agradezco por eso y espero poder seguir sentándome con ella a escuchar esta hermosa música, como lo hago justo ahora.

     El curruchá is an emblematic song that frankly I love; my mom was the one who showed it to me for the first time because I was just starting on my instrument and that was a very important song that I had to know; I recently went through my sheet music, I was sorting it, when I came across this song and I decided to record it. I recorded the mandolin over a cuatro that I also made.

     The theme for me is nostalgic, in fact, after recording and editing it I started listening to versions until I found the beautiful version that fascinated me when I was little, the one by Jesús Sevillano, he is a well-known Venezuelan doctor and musician who has recorded many songs that, in his voice, have become popular, such as Alfonsina y el mar, como llora una estrella, las brumas del mar, apure en un viaje, la flor de la canela, sobra en los médanos, el curruchá, among others. In fact, relatively recently they recorded a "deluxe concert", so called a music program where they usually present an emblematic Venezuelan artist accompanied by a symphonic orchestra.

     It is incredible the value that things acquire with time, this one, contrary to the previous videos that I have uploaded lately, was not a complex or difficult theme, in fact, I recorded it at the first take, without repeating, but what makes it important is what it reminds me, it makes me think of my mother that ironically makes her think of my grandfather, that was the music that they played to her and therefore to me, only that with the passage of time is that marked in the personality of each one. In me Jesús Sevillano left a big mark because his music has always accompanied me, soon I will record my mom's favorite song which is "Como llora una estrella" and the first version I heard was Sevillano's... The sentimental value is given by one but our loved ones have a very important role in all our formation and growth. I don't come from a family of musicians, I'm the first one, but the culture that my mom has instilled in me, in part, is what has made me grow. So I thank her for that and I hope I can continue to sit with her and listen to this beautiful music, as I do right now.
