I had a friend come over and help me prune some olive trees the other day.
We took it relatively easy and just gave some of the trees a gentle prune - the method I've opted for is to take around a third off each tree, that way I should get a decent crop next year.
The general principle of pruning is easy enough - cut out anything growing inward, anything crossing and anything dead.
Even though we only gave half my trees a relatively gentle prune, there is a lot of wood left lying around as you can see from this video.
This is mainly because these trees hadn't been pruned in several years.
All good for me: more olives next year and days worth of decent firewood - olive makes EXCELLENT firewood!
