    About :

    ENGLISH VERSION

Philosophy in a Minute: The Law of Cause and Effect of Stoicism

As I have already mentioned, Stoicism is one of the Hellenistic currents that most attracts my attention. In fact, I tried to practice it and to be able to say that it is my philosophy of life. I believe that although it is ancient, it has a novelty and validity like few others. As you have seen in the video, the Stoics think that everything that happens responds to a kind of law of cause and effect, and the best way to understand it is to stop at how Zeno of Citium founded Stoicism.

Zeno was a merchant, and at the age of 40 after suffering a shipwreck and losing everything, he said to himself "Life wants me to be a philosopher" and dedicated the rest of his life to reflection and philosophical teaching. He could have been conflicted, and perhaps he was, but after reflecting that what happened responds to cause and effect, in other words to a kind of destiny, it was unnecessary to get upset about something he cannot control.

I hope you liked this philosophical short, see you next time!
