Our Family's Weekend Getaway

Usually on a weekend, we always made a point to bring our baby out for a road trip so he can see around Mahe area. We're thrilled to know that Sage's curiosity on those things he found interesting along the road, made his trip fruitful and productive. So one day we checked Matalan, a British brand shop which was recently opened here in Seychelles situated just right next to the shopping center at STC Boise de Rose.

As his dad wanted to carry him while waiting for the shop to open, his curiosity extended to the Great Britain banner, and decided to take a photo of him. He doesn't even want his daddy to hold him at all because he seemed to get the thought that other kids around were not held by their dads. Sage's at his age has shown independence already.

Inside the shops were variations of toys displayed on the shelf, and at once he's so engrossed with those toy cars and grabbed them as if he's just at home. I needed to explain that he can't play with those toys just yet because daddy has to pay for it still at the counter. The good thing even in public despite his interest on the car, he haven't shown tantrum when there were times that we have to say NO on what he wanted to grab. Even during his first travel, the Qatar Airways flight attendant was amazed at how he behaved during the entire duration of the flight as Sage had been on his best behavior so far. It was only when he's sleepy, and time to change his nappy that he's a bit fuzzy yet whenever he felt uncomfortable, mommy's embrace was ready.

After we finished shopping at Matalan, we went to Eden Island and bought his favorite Samosa there. He preferred fish samosa and fondly told the sales representative "mosa" of whom the latter eventually became his friend. Right after buying his food at Spar, Sage grabbed my hand and said, "mommy boat" leading me towards the yacht, enjoyed running here and there overlooking those giant yachts. As he's so ecstatic with the view, he would momentarily point out different areas so our interaction about the place would start from the boat to the water, the swimming pool right next to it, the tables, chairs, and anything which caught his attention.

On the way back to the car, he's also very much fascinated with a statue of a fish, octopus, and other sea creatures displayed at a nearby shop. We have to stop for a while let him scrutinized it, until such time he would say, "okay mommy go". Somehow having our baby exposed to the different areas here in Seychelles gave us a new outlook as first-time parents. Both hubby and I could not contain our happiness because Sage simply brings joy to the family. I must say the greatest gift God has ever given to us.
