"Silver Medal" [ES - EN subtitles]

El día de ayer se llevó a cabo la final del torneo del Fútbol Femenino de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe que se realizan en El Salvador; la selección Venezolana se enfrentó a su similar de México en una final muy exigente que se decidió a favor del equipo mexicano en tiempo extra y eso le valió para la obtención de la medalla dorada dejando en segunda posición a la Vinotinto Femenina.

Yesterday took place the final of the Women's Soccer tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games being held in El Salvador; the Venezuelan team faced its similar of Mexico in a very demanding final that was decided in favor of the Mexican team in overtime and that earned them the gold medal, leaving the Vinotinto Femenina in second place.

La exigencia no solo de lo extenso de la final, sino del torneo, fue uno de los factores que influyeron en el desempeño del equipo venezolano en esa final; recordemos que la mayoría de estas jugadoras son parte de clubes del fútbol venezolano y algunas otras están beneficiadas de becas las cuales las ha llevado a ser parte de equipos universitarios en los Estados Unidos; está diferencia del estado físico entre varias de las jugadoras es muy evidente y es algo que lamentablemente no es solucionado por la federación de fútbol venezolano. Esta situación en dónde la diferencia del estado físico de las jugadoras venezolanas contra sus rivales se ha observado desde torneos anteriores, como por ejemplo la pasada Copa América, es que lamentablemente la Vinotinto Femenina no puede competir al mismo nivel con otras selecciones en dónde jugadoras si están mejor preparadas en lo físico y es evidente que aparte del talento, es necesario tener la resistencia para enfrentar una cantidad de encuentros que se llevan a cabo en tan corto plazo.

The demand not only of the length of the final, but of the tournament, was one of the factors that influenced the performance of the Venezuelan team in that final; remember that most of these players are part of Venezuelan soccer clubs and some others are beneficiaries of scholarships which have led them to be part of college teams in the United States; this difference in physical condition between several of the players is very evident and is something that unfortunately is not solved by the Venezuelan soccer federation. This situation where the difference in the physical condition of the Venezuelan players against their rivals has been observed since previous tournaments, such as the last Copa America, is that unfortunately the Vinotinto Femenina cannot compete at the same level with other national teams where players are better prepared physically and it is evident that apart from talent, it is necessary to have the stamina to face a number of matches that take place in such a short period of time.

Venezuela realizó un buen torneo, pero es evidente que está lejos de competir con las potencias de siempre, por ejemplo en el continente está muy lejos de lo que es Brasil, Colombia y hasta la misma Argentina y es que se ha dado un enorme retroceso en lo que es el fútbol femenino en dónde hace ya varios años se creó una ilusión de que se estaba al frente de una gran generación de futbolistas, pero situaciones lamentables, denunciables manchó lo que fue una época de éxito y creo que tanto la federación, prensa y otros entes le dieron la espalda al fútbol femenino y es por eso que mi opinión sobre el desempeño del grupo de todavía jóvenes mujeres en este torneo es que dieron todo lo posible para alcanzar un objetivo el cual posiblemente era terminar entre las tres mejores de la competencia; hay mucho que mejorar, hay mucho que evolucionar y solo espero que pronto esté grupo de chicas puedan participar en más torneos, que sean relevantes, notorias para que tengan un mejor futuro en el deporte.

Venezuela had a good tournament, but it is evident that it is far from competing with the usual powers, for example in the continent is far from what is Brazil, Colombia and even Argentina itself and there has been a huge setback in what is women's soccer where several years ago an illusion was created that was in front of a great generation of players, But regrettable and reportable situations stained what was an era of success and I believe that both the federation, press and other entities turned their backs on women's soccer and that is why my opinion about the performance of the group of young women in this tournament is that they gave everything possible to achieve a goal which was possibly to finish among the top three in the competition; there is much to improve, there is much to evolve and I only hope that soon this group of girls can participate in more tournaments, that they are relevant, notorious so that they have a better future in the sport.
