El Bayern Munich se proclamó campeón de la Bundesliga por onceava ocasión de manera consecutiva al ganar en la última jornada al Colonia por un marcador de dos goles a uno; el último gol fue anotado por la joven estrella alemana, Jamal Musiala en el minuto 88 del encuentro. El peor Bayern Munich de estos últimos años logra cerrar una problemática y polémica temporada con un importante título y eso es debido a los números fallos realizados por los equipos que competían con el actual campeón de la Bundesliga; uno de esos clubes era el BVB, el cual llegaba con una ventaja de dos puntos sobre el club más importante de Alemania y eso le obligaba a ganar en su estadio para romper una racha de 10 años viendo al Bayern dominar el fútbol de ese país.

Este club padeció muchos problemas internos los cuales se hicieron notorios al momento del despido de Nagelsmann cuando ya se estaba disputando la segunda vuelta, está decisión tomó por sorpresa a muchos y que con la llegada de Tuchel que trajo la recuperación del liderato de la Bundesliga, vaticinaba un mejor cierre no solo en esta competición, sino en las otras dos de importancia, pero junto a la eliminación por Copa Alemana y la Champions League, nuevamente se vio cómo este equipo fue perdiendo juego hasta que nuevamente diera paso a su clásico rival para perder ese primer puesto y dejar todo para una última y emocionante jornada en el fútbol alemán.
