Hasta hace un par de semanas estábamos ante un posible acontecimiento poco visto en los últimos años en alguna de las 5 grandes ligas de Europa. Y hago mención a ese lapso de tiempo ya que desde allí hemos estado viendo como el Girona FC se ha estado alejando de la punta de una manera alarmante y quizá definitiva. Debemos recordar que desde que inició LaLiga de España, el equipo catalán ha estado luchando el liderato con el todopoderoso Real Madrid.

Las expectativas respecto a un posible batacazo en España venían estando latentes en el mundo futbolero desde que inició la temporada, sin embargo, muchos han estado haciendo seguimiento a cuanto podía aguantar el ritmo el Girona FC tomando en cuenta la plantilla, el presupuesto y un elemento que considero importante y es la mentalidad de equipo pequeño. Las últimas semanas han sido determinantes a nivel de resultados y todo parece apuntar a que el Real Madrid será el campeón para sorpresa de nadie.

And I mention that period of time because since then we have been seeing how Girona FC has been moving away from the top of the table in an alarming and perhaps definitive way. We must remember that since the beginning of LaLiga in Spain, the Catalan team has been fighting for the lead with the almighty Real Madrid.

Expectations regarding a possible upset in Spain have been latent in the soccer world since the beginning of the season, however, many have been monitoring how Girona FC could keep up the pace taking into account the squad, the budget and an element that I consider important and that is the mentality of a small team. The last few weeks have been decisive in terms of results and everything seems to point to Real Madrid being the champion to no one's surprise.

Como dato interesante, la última vez que vimos que un equipo pequeño había logrado la hazaña de ganar una de las 5 grandes ligas europeas, fue por allá en el año 2016 cuando el Leicester City FC de Claudio Ranieri, Vardy y compañía, ganaron la complicada Premier League de Inglaterra. Ese si que fue un gran acontecimiento ya que en esa liga hacen vida equipos como el Liverpool, Manchester United, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, entre otros equipos de buen nivel.
