MUSIC INSPIRED MISSION, FRIENSHIP, PASSION AND SMILES: MY MISSIONARY EXPERIENCE IN COSQUIN

Hello music Lovers, I had not been active here for a while because I felt I have not had a music inspiring story to share, but today, I am glad to share you highlights of my experience in Cosquin.

THE FIRST PICTURE I TOOK I COSQUIN

Last week, I was invited to go on a mission with a group of secondary school students in Cordoba. Note that I had been in Florencio barely for a couple of months, doing a course in the Spanish language. I was excited about the opportunity and I did a 10-hour Journey from Buenos Aires to Cordoba. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my trusty old guitar, and I was disappointed.

After meeting with the boys at the rendevous point, We headed to the charming village of Cosquin in Córdoba, where the mountains made a stunning backdrop. One time I came across a very beautiful arrangements of mountains famously known as pan de azúcar probably because of its arrangement as though a sand pack of sugar.

Luckily, there were seven other guitarists among the boys. They kindly offered me a guitar to use throughout our five-day mission. I was ecstatic to join them and be a part of the musical experience.

Our days were packed with prayer, singing, and serving the community. We gathered every morning to pray, but it was the music that really pumped us up. The songs we belted out were inspirational and motivational, and they had a profound effect on the people we encountered.

Sharing and learning different Ideas with my new guitarist family, haha

The magic happened when we played our guitars in a choir. I gave mine an afro touch, blending it with the local Argentine folklore. It was like a musical fusion that had everyone captivated. The power of music can really bring people together, no matter where they come from.

One thing that amazed me was the boys' dance called Pogo. When we played upbeat songs, they would jump and move with so much energy. One day, I couldn't resist the excitement and joined in. It was electric! The energy from the music and dance was contagious, and I felt like I was part of something bigger.

Throughout our journey, music became the heart and soul of the mission. It had the power to touch people's hearts and bridge any gaps. It was incredible to see how a simple song could make someone smile or even shed a tear.

Music basically accompanied almost every activity, like before meals, while we wait for the kitchen department to get the food ready, we would do karaoke or Open mics. At one of the open mic opportunities, they requested that I sang in a Nigerian Local dialect. I did and they were astonished. It was a first-hand experience for most of them, seeing an African sing and play live.

In the end, our mission was about the magic of music and the power it holds to touch lives. Although we were from different cultures, music became a point of unity. We experienced firsthand how a simple melody could uplift spirits and create bonds. The mission to Cosquin may have been short, but its memory will forever be etched in my heart. It was a journey where music became our guide, and with every note played, we made a difference in the lives of those we met.

So, here's to the unforgettable adventure of music, friendship, and service that will always remind me of that incredible mission in Cosquin.

Below is a short clip of some of my experiences!

    Enjoy!!!
