The mechanics of the objects in LEGO Racers will be a little different from the usual ones, and although there are few objects and they will not be a surprise because each one has a different color so you can know in advance which one it will be, they can increase their level. In certain parts of the track there are LEGO pieces to collect and depending on their color they will give us a different object: the red one will give us a cannon shot, the green one a turbo, the yellow one allows us to release oil to make skid whoever passes over it and finally the blue one generates a shield to avoid enemy impacts.

In addition to these previous ones there is also the white LEGO piece which does not deliver any object, but it increases the utility of the same up to a maximum of 3 levels causing it to be more effective, in the case of using the green turbo piece with 3 white pieces will cause the character to teleport a good distance forward on the track, but sometimes you can appear in bad areas, with the red piece at the maximum level we shoot 3 missiles that advance along the track chasing the enemies ahead of us but the missiles can explode against walls or unevenness of the track.

Los videojuegos de LEGO siempre han sido curiosos e incluso algunos han resultado sumamente divertidos, al hablar sobre los videojuegos de esta franquicia generalmente se suele pensar en títulos de aventura, plataformas e incluso un ligero elemento de acción, pero también han existido títulos de otros géneros con mecánicas diferentes como podría ser el caso de LEGO Racers el cual como su nombre lo indica se trata sobre un videojuego de carreras y el mismo tiene algunas similitudes con el que tal vez es uno de los videojuegos de carreras más conocidos en todo el mundo, Mario Kart. LEGO Racers se trata de un videojuego de carreras con algunas mecánicas simples o ya vistas en otros títulos, pero también cuenta con un elemento único y conocido de la gran mayoría de videojuegos de LEGO en donde se tiene la posibilidad de crear tanto personajes como vehículos mediante el uso de piezas de LEGO para de esa forma ser capaces de crear diseños únicos y divertidos los cuales algunas veces logran ser bastante absurdos.
Los controles durante la carrera son bastante sencillos en donde se pueden encontrar los controles de movimiento mediante el joystick o flechas de dirección, un botón para acelerar, un botón para frenar y retroceder, mediante el segundo juego de flechas de dirección llamadas “Botones C” se puede cambiar la vista del juego en varios estilos diferentes que van desde la primera persona hasta la tercera persona bastante alejada del vehículo, también se puede mirar hacia atrás y cambiar la imagen que sale al lado derecho del jugador las cuales pueden ser el mapa de la pista o el medidor de velocidad. El juego también cuenta con un botón para usar los objetos especiales que recogemos durante la carrera y con ellos lograr atacar a los demás corredores de una manera muy similar a Mario Kart.

La mecánica de los objetos en LEGO Racers será un poco diferente de los acostumbrados y es que a pesar de que hay pocos objetos además de que no serán una sorpresa debido a que cada uno tiene un color diferente por lo cual puedes saber de antemano cual será, los mismo pueden aumentar de nivel. En ciertas partes de la pista hay piezas de LEGO para recoger y según su color nos darán un objeto diferente: el rojo nos dará un disparo de cañón, el verde un turbo, el amarillo nos permite soltar aceite para hacer derrapar a quien pase sobre él y por último el azul nos genera un escudo para evitar impactos enemigos.

Adicionalmente a estos previos también existe la pieza de LEGO color blanco la cual no entrega ningún objeto, pero si aumenta la utilidad del mismo hasta un máximo de 3 niveles provocando que sea más efectivo, en el caso de usar la pieza verde de turbo con 3 piezas blancas provocara que el personaje se teletransporte una buena distancia hacia adelante en la pista, pero en algunas ocasiones puedes aparecer en malas zonas, con la pieza roja al máximo nivel disparemos 3 misiles que avanzan por la pista persiguiendo a los enemigos por delante de nosotros pero los misiles pueden explotar contra paredes o desniveles de la pista.

El titulo cuenta con los modos de juego Circuito, 1 jugador, Desafío y Contrarreloj, el modo Circuito seria el modo historia en donde iremos jugando todos los circuitos del videojuego, comenzaremos con el primer circuito y para ir desbloqueando los siguientes deberemos de completar el circuito anterior al menos en tercer lugar. Cada circuito cuenta con su campeón el cual será bastante complicado de vencer, pero en caso de lograr ganarle y quedar en primer lugar luego de las 4 pistas del circuito lograremos desbloquear la montura de su vehículo para poder usarla en el apartado de Montaje en donde se pueden crear vehículos y personajes con los cuales poder jugar.

Si bien todos los campeones de pista cuentan con un vehículo más rápido que todos los demás competidores y sería imposible lograr ganar la carrera sin saber usar los objetos, la mayor dificultad de LEGO Racers está en su propia movilidad, el diseño de todas las pistas está repleto de caminos curvos y desniveles en todo momento y cuando el vehículo pasa por algún desnivel tiende a perder el control de una manera muy exagerada, estoy es aún mayor cuando vas a gran velocidad al usar algún nivel de los objetos de color verde. Al momento de iniciar una carrera se puede conseguir un bono de velocidad a la hora de la partida si presionas el botón de acelerar en el momento justo que en termina la cuenta regresiva, este impulso es muy útil para iniciar en primer lugar, pero al mismo tiempo puede hacerte provocar perder el control y pasar a la última posición fácilmente como me ocurrió en una parte del gameplay.
