The wise Solomon wrote in the book of Proverbs chapter 14, verse 21: "Do not despise your neighbor; if you are good to the poor, God will bless you!"

Once upon a time there was a very beautiful rose, it felt a wonder to know that it was the most beautiful in the garden. One day, however, she noticed that people were looking at her from afar and she noticed that next to her was a big, fat, black toad. When she noticed it, she thought that this was the reason why nobody came near her, so she said very annoyed: "Toad, why don't you get away from me, don't you see that because of you nobody comes to watch me, you are horrible! The toad replied: -all right if that's what you want I'll go away. Very obediently the toad walked away from the rose.

A short time later the frog was walking through the garden when he noticed that the rose was all withered and with very few petals on it and said: "Rose, now you are really withered, what happened to you? The rose replied, "Since you left, the ants have been eating me day and night, I will never again be the most beautiful in the garden. The toad said, "Of course, when I was here I ate those ants and that is why you were always the most beautiful

My people, when you despise someone you are considering that person unworthy of appreciation or you consider that he does not deserve your attention. To despise is directly to reject, to exclude, to discriminate. Many times we approach people only out of interest, that is very wrong, and we reject others because we consider that we will not receive anything from them.

Unfortunately there are people in the world who think they are more important than others, this is a serious mistake. We are all important because everyone has a unique and special purpose to fulfill. The engineer has his function, the manager also has his function, and the lady who serves the coffee is also important.

We can always learn something from others, we are not perfect and we must recognize that there are people better than us in some areas. You can be the best baseball player, but there is someone who sings more beautifully than you, or you can be the best in mathematics, but in writing or history maybe someone is better than you.

So don't look down on anyone, don't discriminate by race, religion, social or political condition, nationality. On the contrary: love, forgive, tolerate, respect... share with those in need. Never look down on someone for being poor. The Bible says: he who gives to the poor, lends to God.

Let us think about this and remember our proverb for today: "Do not despise your neighbor; if you are good to the poor, God will bless you!".
