¡Hola amigos! Hoy les vengo a dar una pequeña muestra del programa de radio que tengo el privilegio de producir y conducir llamado "El Elevador". Es transmitido de lunes a viernes de 6:00 a 8:00 p.m. (Hora de Venezuela).

Una de las secciones favoritas de los radioescuchas es el Proverbio del Día. En esta sección. compartimos un versículo del libro de Proverbios (Biblia) y lo asociamos a alguna historia o fábula y al final damos una corta reflexión sobre la misma.

One of our listeners' favorite sections is the Proverb of the Day. In this section, we share a verse from the book of Proverbs (Bible) and associate it to a story or fable and at the end we give a short reflection on it.

La idea es dejar en las personas un mensaje positivo, que los haga reflexionar, evaluarse y los motive a ser mejores cada día, es decir a subir de nivel. Acá les compartimos el Proverbio del Día:

El sabio Salomón escribió en el libro de proverbios capítulo 13, versículo 7: “Algunos dicen ser ricos y no tienen nada; otros dicen ser pobres y nada les falta.”

Se cuenta una historia de un joven que caminaba con su padre, cuando se detuvieron en una curva y después de un pequeño silencio su padre le preguntó: “Además del cantar de los pájaros, ¿escuchas alguna cosa más?”

El joven agudizó sus oídos y algunos segundos después respondio: “Estoy escuchando el ruido de una carreta…”

Eso es” -dijo el padre- “es una carreta vacía”.

El joven preguntó a su padre: “¿Cómo sabes que es una carreta vacía si aún no la vemos?”

Entonces el respondió: “Es muy fácil saber cuándo una carreta está vacía, por causa del ruido. Cuánto más vacía la carreta, mayor es el ruido que hace”.

Aquel joven se convirtió en adulto y hasta hoy, cuenta que cuando nota a una persona hablando demasiado, interrumpiendo la conversación de todos, siendo inoportuna, presumiendo de lo que tiene, sintiéndose prepotente y menospreciando a otras personas, tiene la impresión de escuchar la voz de su padre diciendo: “Cuanto más vacía la carreta, mayor es el ruido que hace”.

Mi gente, la humildad consiste en callar nuestras virtudes y permitirle a los demás descubrirlas. Existen personas tan pobres en el mundo que lo único que tienen es dinero. Nadie está más vacío, que aquel que está lleno de su propio yo, y nunca piensa en los demás.

Aprender callar, hacer silencio cuando es necesario, aprender a escuchar es parte de nuestro crecimiento. Si eres del tipo de persona que no deja de hablar de sus virtudes, ¿en que momento haces silencio para evaluar tus acciones, para escuchar a los demás y aprender de ellos, para corregir y planificar tus próximos pasos?

Es mejor hacer silencio y que nuestras acciones hagan ruido, a hablar mucho y no sea visible todo eso que hablas.

Seamos como una lluvia serena y tranquila que llega profundamente a las raíces en silencio, pero nutriendo la tierra y los árboles.

Recordemos eso y nuestro proverbio de hoy: “Algunos dicen ser ricos y no tienen nada; otros dicen ser pobres y nada les falta.”

My people, humility consists in silencing our virtues and allowing others to discover them. There are people so poor in the world that all they have is money. No one is emptier than he who is full of his own self, and never thinks of others.

Learning to be silent, to be quiet when necessary, learning to listen is part of our growth. If you are the type of person who never stops talking about your virtues, when do you become silent to evaluate your actions, to listen to others and learn from them, to correct and plan your next steps?

It is better to be silent and let our actions make noise, than to talk a lot and all that you talk about is not visible.

Let us be like a serene and calm rain that reaches deep into the roots in silence, but nourishing the earth and the trees.

Let us remember that and our proverb for today: "Some say they are rich and have nothing; others say they are poor and lack nothing."
