Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Music Community! My name is @jasperdick and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

This is Week 7 of the “Retro Music” challenge! The aim of the game is to play a cover of anything from the 1920s to the 1990s, anything that would be considered a bit “Retro” in this day and age, which opens up a world of possibilities!

This week I want to play you one of Van Morrison’s most famous songs “Moondance”. It has a very jazzy feel to it! It was recorded for an album called “Moondance” in 1970, but for some reason other singles were released from that album at the time… and the song “Moondance” was only put out as a single in 1977.

This seems strange to me, as “Moondance” is a fantastic song that is often covered by people (like Michael Buble for example). There are several other brilliant songs from the album like “And it Stoned Me”, “Caravan” and “Into the Mystic” that also weren’t released as singles… and they are all widely regarded as Van Morrison classics now! Who made these decisions? Perhaps it is easy to judge in hindsight!

¡Esta es la semana 7 del desafío "Música retro"! El objetivo del juego es jugar una versión de cualquier cosa, desde la década de 1920 hasta la década de 1990, cualquier cosa que se considere un poco "retro" en esta época, ¡lo que abre un mundo de posibilidades!

Esta semana quiero tocarles una de las canciones más famosas de Van Morrison, “Moondance”. ¡Tiene un toque muy jazzero! Se grabó para un álbum llamado "Moondance" en 1970, pero por alguna razón se lanzaron otros sencillos de ese álbum en ese momento... y la canción "Moondance" solo se publicó como sencillo en 1977.

Esto me parece extraño, ya que “Moondance” es una canción fantástica que la gente suele versionar (como Michael Bublé, por ejemplo). Hay varias otras canciones brillantes del álbum como "And it Stoned Me", "Caravan" e "Into the Mystic" que tampoco se lanzaron como sencillos... ¡y ahora son consideradas como clásicos de Van Morrison! ¿Quién tomó estas decisiones? ¡Quizás sea fácil juzgar en retrospectiva!
