Hello, Hive Open Mic brothers and sisters who remain in good spirits. Greetings and blessings to all. We are a Punk Rock band from Medan, Indonesia. We are back to participate in the weekly #OpenMic music event which has entered its 189th week with the theme "My Perception", which was chosen by a beautiful singer in this community, @gemafreya1234. For me, this is an interesting theme.
From this theme, we performed a song called "Hukum Rimba", which means "Law of The Jungle". This is a song by Jakarta-based punk rock band, Marjinal. The song was released in 2001 on the album "Termarjinalkan". Until now, the song entitled "Hukum Rimba" is often covered by artists in Indonesia. The song was written by Mike, who was originally just a guitarist, and now Mike is the vocalist plus guitarist in the band Marjinal.
Hukum Rimba or Law of the Jungle, is a law that states whoever wins or is strong, is the one who rules. In my perception, this song describes the situation in Indonesia today. Many legal gaps can be seen in Indonesia. For example, corruptors who take billions of people's money get lighter sentences than rice thieves who only steal a kilogram. Even the guilty can go free and the innocent become suspects. Why is that? That's the Law of the Jungle. When you have a lot of money, you can pay lawyers, judges and prosecutors to rule in your favour. Money is the source of power nowadays. The more money we have, the easier it is to control anything.
Hukum adalah lembah hitam
Tak mencerminkan keadilan
Pengacara juri hakim jaksa
Masih ternilai dengan angka, uang
Hukum telah dikuasai
Oleh orang orang ber-uang
Hukum adalah permainan
Tuk menjaga kekuasaan
Maling-maling kecil dihakimi
Maling-maling besar dilindungi
Maling-maling kecil dihakimi
Maling-maling besar dilindungi
Hukum adalah komoditas
Barangnya para tersangka
Ada uang kau kan dimenangkan
Tak ada uang you say good bye, beibeh
Di manakah adanya keadilan
Bila masih memandang golongan
Yang kuat selalu berkuasa
Yang lemah pasti merana
Thank you so much for watching and listening to the cover song we performed for our participation in the weekly Hive Open Mic Week 189 event. I hope you all enjoyed it. In making this music video, we recorded it live using a cell phone camera. Then I edited the recorded audio using Adobe Audition software, then I used Capcut to combine the video and audio. We are very grateful to @putradaffa who was willing to record our video. Thank you very much and best regards.
