Definitivamente el tango es uno de los grandes aportes que ha dado la República Argentina a la cultura universal, por esa razón en esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes una de las obras maestras de quien, junto a Carlos Gardel, es la principal figura del tango en el país de la plata.

La obra de la que hablamos hoy se llama Los Pájaros Perdidos, una hermosa canción – tango con música de Astor Piazzolla y poesía de Mario Trejo, que ha pasado a la historia gracias a la genialidad de su música y la ,maravillosa elocuencia poética de su letra.

Tango is definitely one of the great contributions that the Argentine Republic has made to universal culture. For that reason, on this occasion I want to share with you one of the masterpieces of the man who, together with Carlos Gardel, is the main figure of tango in the country of silver.

The work of which we speak today is called Los Pájaros Perdidos, a beautiful song - tango with music by Astor Piazzolla and poetry by Mario Trejo, which has gone down in history thanks to the genius of its music and the wonderful poetic eloquence of its lyrics.

A través de exquisitas metáforas, el texto de Los Pájaros Perdidos nos ubica en el momento de la partida a la eternidad, cuando esos pájaros perdidos, que vienen del más allá, nos acompañan por ese camino del que no vamos a regresar.

Through exquisite metaphors, the text of Los Pájaros Perdidos places us in the moment of departure for eternity, when those lost birds, which come from the beyond, accompany us on that path from which we will not return.

The Lost Birds

I love the lost birds
that fly from the beyond
to be confused with a heaven
that I can never get back.

The memories come back again,
the young hours I gave
and from the sea comes a ghost
made of things I loved and lost.

It was all a dream, a dream that we lost,
how we lost the birds and the sea,
a brief dream as old as time
that mirrors cannot reflect.

Then I sought to lose you in so many other
and that one and all were you;
I finally managed to recognize when a goodbye is a goodbye,
loneliness devoured me and there were two of us.

The night birds return
that fly blindly over the sea,
the whole night is a mirror
that gives me back your loneliness.

I'm just a lost bird
returning from the beyond
to be confused with a heaven
that I can never get back.

Amo los pájaros perdidos
que vuelan desde el más allá
a confundirse con un cielo
que nunca más podré recuperar.

Vuelven de nuevo los recuerdos,
las horas jóvenes que di
y desde el mar llega un fantasma
hecho de cosas que amé y perdí.

Todo fue un sueño, un sueño que perdimos,
como perdimos los pájaros y el mar,
un sueño breve y antiguo como el tiempo
que los espejos no pueden reflejar.

Después busqué perderte en tantas otras
y aquella otra y todas eran vos;
por fin logré reconocer cuándo un adiós es un adiós,
la soledad me devoró y fuimos dos.

Vuelven los pájaros nocturnos
que vuelan ciegos sobre el mar,
la noche entera es un espejo
que me devuelve tu soledad.

Soy sólo un pájaro perdido
que vuelve desde el más allá
a confundirse con un cielo
que nunca más podré recuperar

En esta oportunidad los invito a escuchar esta versión que escribí en el año 2008 para el Trío Zoe y que fue interpretada en el Teatro de la Ópera de Maracay en el Festival TOM Sessions Music de ese mismo año. Espero la disfruten.
